Route to Soliman Valdez's week 12 report
During this week's search, I went back into the Yahoo homepage. From there I decided to check out the link to Companies dealing with the Automotive industry.
I found a link to the Taylor Automotive Tech-Line and decided to check it out. Clicking on the link, I found that it had a variety of information for anyone who was interested in it. The informational technical hotline was designed for automotive technicians as well as do-it-yourselfers who found themselves in problematic situations. By simply getting online to the TAT hotline, the information could be downloaded and the problem could be solved without headaches. Furthermore, live assistence is also provided with ASE certified technicians online as well.
So what does this mean to the general public? In my opinion I feel that anyone who owns or operates an automobile should know a little something about what is going on with their cars. I don't mean to say that they should all learn to do things for themselves because then I would be out of a job (being that I am a mechanic) however, I do feel that it is wise for people to just be aware of things that can be avoided (such as stalling on the freeway) if they follow maintenence schedules regularly. By doing so it will take care of the regular check-up as well as offer an insight into other preventive measures (changing a timing belt before it breaks and saving you the trouble of towing it in, or for Honda and Nissan owners, saving the valves on the cylinder head when the pistons hit them).
With regards to traffic psychology, I feel that a way of getting the public awareness out to the everyday drivers of things to be aware of when it comes to the maintaining and upkeep of their cars is crucial and very benificial for everyone that drives. After all, how many times have you been stuck in traffic because a car got stalled on the freeway and was blocking a lane? Perhaps it is time to take advantage of the information that is out there.
