Route to Soliman Valdez's team 6 report
During this week's search I tried to see if I got mail from the Alldata system. I couldn't access the information that I needed, however, there was a place on their homepage which if accessed would allow a user to 10 free minutes on their system. The only thing required was an e-mail address and a name. I don't think that the CSS server allows for that kind of information though.
I went back to the Yahoo homepage and browsed down to the link titled FAQs. Under this link I found a very interesting concerning ABS brake systems which are found on many of today's cars.
In this particular question, a person was asking if the ABS brake system actually worked. The technician replied that it did under the principles of "threshold braking." Under this principle, the ABS system would replace the habit of locking up the brakes. "Tires generate maiximum braking force when they have just started to slide, but just before the wheels lock up entirely." In other words, you can feel that you are near the threshold when the pedal starts to firm up. If you can't hear the tires whine just a bit then your are not near the threshold.
I feel that this type of awareness is important to the field of
traffic psychology because it enables people who are not mechanically
inclined to have some understanding of what is going on and perhaps
evade any serious situations.
