Route to Soliman Valdez's team 8 report
During this week's search, I decided to further search alternative fuels for automobiles. Once again I started my search at the Yahoo homepage and clicked on the link to Alternative Fuel Vehicles. The next link that I clicked on was called ARPA Electric and Hybrid Vehicle National Data Center.
The purpose of the ARPA was to pursue research and development for electric and hybrid cars. It was funny to see that the location of this site was right here at the University of Hawaii at Manoa in the Electrical Engineering Department.
As far as I could tell, the tone and style did not single out only the United States as my Team 7 reported on the Global Electric Auto Association. I feel confident that the intent of the ARPA is to bring everyone out of the petroleum era and into the electric or solar era. By doing so it is in everyone's best interest. I wonder sometimes why people feel so threatened by others that they must keep things a secret. We are all humans on the same planet so why don't we strive together to make things better for all. People should build "bridges" instead of "walls."
As far as implications for traffic psychology goes, I feel that it is vital that people review their intentions on what they are trying to do to better our way of life (finding an alternative fuel) and realize how egocentric some of the ideas or organizations may be.
As in any driving situation, you have to put yourself in a place where you fit into the crowd because there are so many other people around you that influence your actions and decisions. Similarly, the organizations that exist to better our way of life in terms of driving (alternate fuels) must also realize that there are many other opinions from many different people which must be taken into consideration.
