License Plate Detector

    (a) This was again found on the same Yahoo search as my first reports. The address is as follows:

    news:44ue6p$kbk@sundog.tiac.net

    (b) The text is increasingly becoming more difficult to follow. This is because two or more people write to each other and you don't know when one starts and ends. All the guidelines you have are your arrows. Not much graphics and not much stye to it.

    (c) Tom Bell has a deal you can not refuse. For $40, he has a license plate that reduces the detetection range of radar guns. For $30, he has one that protects you against photo radar. And for $70, he can make one that does both. He wants feedback to know if there is enough demand to manufacture these devices (tombbell@ix.netcom.com).

I can see thiese items selling out fast in parts of the country, but not too much in Hawaii. When I lived in Kansas, you would not go anywhere wihtlout a radr detector. In California, all of my relatives fought for my radar detector when I gave it away. Here in Hawaii ther is just not that many srtaighaway roads where you might one. Plus the city makes the radar detector receive too many signals, false ones.

What I think about is why these things are os popular in parts of the US. If you are speeding and don't get coulght, does tha tmake it alright? That's precisly why people buy radar detectors. You're not going to buy one if you never drove above the speed limit. On the other hand, if you know you are gong to be going fast, but cannot or do not want to pay the consequences, then a detector is for you. Better yet, get in touch with Tom Bell and hook your self up.

    (d) I just read a play called Faust, written by Goethe. In it God makes a bet wiht the devil that even though Faust does not live good ar does good things, at least he will remember the differnce between good and bad. In the case of radar detectors or the license plate devices, people are also taking up this bet. They know they are wrong yet do things to protect tehmselves. Thes devices only lead to move speeders and less riths for the people who do follow the laws.
