Hi Sherman!! I know how you feel when you're tense in traffic and can't enjoy driving. Every little thing bothers you right?? Well, some suggestions may be to listen to the radio or stick your favorite CD in and sing your heart out!! Also, when someone cuts you off or makes you mad, try and count backwards from 10 to 1. Try it-it may help.

Hey get this: I once bought a car for 97 dollars (it had $3 worth of gas in tank when I got it). it was very rough. air came right through the whole dash - so much rust. butt ugly. but that is not the traffic-stressor. this car after a few months began to stall. but with all the noise and commotion (driving even with windows up was like being in a convertible!) there was no way to hear the engine die out. actually the engine was very quiet. so the next thing you know the steering would turn ultra stiff (with power assist now off) and the brakes too would suddenly require like a hippo to step on them before they'd think about considering slowing you down. to restart of course - - - required shifting into netural, it was an automatic. ok seriously here's the kicker. the automatic shifter arm "on the tree" (behind the steering wheel) would come completely off in your hand as you tried to shift it into neutral, also the little red indicator arrow thing had long been broken... it would all culminate in a sort of satori state of hillarity in the face of death. you'd have to really rely on the subtle body memories of having re-started in noncritical situations...

You know who this is. Every drive for me is a tense one and I never enjoy it. I've gotten into 3 accidents, but they haven't cost me a limb or cent. I'm always especially tense when I'm driving alone because I don't want to get into an accident and wreck the car. Dying is no big deal to me, I'm at peace. Wrecking the car is far worse. I'm usually real active and hyper and all my senses highten cause I look for everything. My eyes move constantly. I really don't like driving and don't see it as freedom because I live near UH and Ala Moana. Everything is near my home. Driving is a means to an end, and nothing more. My cure is a loving sisters. If I get into an accident with them there I can pass some of the blame cause they weren't paying attention when they should cause my parents believe that my sisters are suppose to help not get into any accident. With one of them there I relax cause it's like having another pair of eyes so I feel alot better like I don't have to focus so much. Without them there I worry slightly more.

(Comments about the least stressful times for driving)
Nights seem to have the least amount of stress because there is no traffic and less cars. The environment stimuli are tranquil and there is no pressure on me to hurry at all.

(Comments about the least stressful days for driving)
Fridays from 4:30 to 6:30 are in general the most stresfull days for driving. The least stessful day of the week is Sunday. It seems taht more drivers like to drive more safely on Sundays than any other week.

(Comments about driving)
Drivers suffer from a lack of awareness of their driving patterns, which involve their driving interests and motives.

I think much of the aggression exhibited on the road is learned. The home is a very good breeding ground for this.
