Interactive Multimedia Design and Development begins where Communication 337 (Introduction to Multimedia) leaves off; we’ll still use the World Wide Web as our primary example of multimedia but this time the emphasis will be much more on the systematic creation and management of projects and information design and how they apply to communication, to the web, and to other forms of multimedia.
We’ll also take web development skills to a higher level with a combination of intermediate and advanced exercises using Adobe Photoshop CS3, Dreamweaver CS3, Fireworks CS3, and introduce Flash CS3. Combined with these exercises will be an in-depth examination of current web development practices and processes and a forum for discussing design and development related issues.
Students will demonstrate, in the form of multimedia projects, presentations, and examinations, their growing knowledge of multimedia throughout the semester.
The class syllabus is available in Acrobat (pdf) format; note that you'll need Adobe’s (free) Acrobat Reader to view or print this file.
