Concept 1: Identification
A. In order to change, it’s most important to recognize which behaviors are most in need of altering.
B. An example of this is realizing that you are a speeder and making efforts to attempt to modify that behavior. Altering the behavior diminishes risk and thus, is better for the health and wellness of other drivers.
C.
It is difficult to identify the manners which
you should change. If it were that easy, we would have changed them a long time
ago!
Concept 2: Legislation
A. A way to attempt to modify driver’s behaviors. Legislation sets socially acceptable principles. It also enforces sanctions on disobeyers.
B. There are a few different examples of legislation described in this article. They are: seat belt legislations, child restraint legislations, motorcycle legislation, speed limit changes and DWI legislation. Each of these legislations affects the safety of drivers and society as a whole.
C. Research has shown that these legislative laws have proven both effective and ineffective. I personally believe that legislation is vital for maintaining the rules of the road.
Concept 3: Education
A. There are different educational programs which can assist people to be better drivers. It is important to evaluate the effectiveness of these programs in order to know whether or not to continue them.
B. These programs can include school-based programs which are based on parental participation and public education and information. Other education includes parent education, patient education, community, formal driver training, advanced training, motorcycle rider training, and anti-DWI educational programs.
C. I believe that the placement of these programs would reduce accidents on the road and at the very least, increase driver awareness and knowledge. Directing these programs at specific people is helpful and seemingly effective.
