I. Identity
a.) identity formation involves both psychological issues of preference and
social support and validation of potentially available identity options. these identities bring with them moral implications that detail what behaviors are to be exhibited in which situations.
b.) male drivers seem to like the reputation of being fast, dangerous drivers, so he
needs to behave in the manner that this identity suggests: he must drive fast and dangerously
c.) This topic is important because it details how people feel the need to fit into
an identity and could explain some of human behavior and why we do the things we do.
II. Middle aged drivers
a.) although identity is of less concern in these years, members still feel the need
to abide by what is expected
b.) The mid-life crisis cure: buying a fast sports car.
c.) Very important to society because we often think of teens as the ones having the identity issues.
III. Young children
a.) these are the years when the foundations of identity are built. Children are
unaware of this, yet they take in influences all the time
b.) older people who are around children have the opportunity to influence them
and teach them safety behaviors
c.) Children are the most important because it’s easier to shape an identity than it
is to change one and if we start when their young, we may not see so many problems in the later years.
