A. Hidden motives for Buying Certain Cars
1. When people were asked in a normal state and then in a hypnotized state about what they liked about cars, their answers were surprisingly different.
2. In the normal state, they mentioned logical things like price, reliability, comfort, and appearance.
3. In the hypnotized state, they mentioned things like sense of freedom and excitement when driving fast. They were describing “dream cars”.
4. The appearance of the car is transferred over to the personality and appearance of the driver.
a. Fancy car equals fancy driver and old car equals old driver.
B. Music
1. Music is an important part now of driving.
2. An important accessory of a car is its sound system.
3. Music has an effect on drivers.
a. Some people prefer no music when driving.
b. A school report showed that students took longer to brake when listening to loud music.
c. It can easily calm and relax people while driving.
C. Eating
1. Things are being made so that it is now more convenient to eat in your vehicle.
a. refrigerated glove compartments, coolers, trays, trash compactors, and warming cup holders
b. Fast food restaurants accommodate to drivers offering foods that are designed to be eaten while driving.
2. It is very risky to eat while driving.
D. Intelligent Transportation Systems
1. Many new inventions and ideas are being implemented to increase safety.
a. Sleep monitors, collision avoidance sonar, smart cards, tollbooth scanners, and route guidance.

- This is the official website for ITS. It is by the U.S. Department of
Transportation and has many links explain what they are and what they do. It
also has a little link that takes you to your state and explains the costs and
benefits in your state as well as what types of systems are in your state.
