Lessons: Exploring Systems That Make Traffic Safer. (
Concept #1- Background to the Model
1)
Expert
collision reconstructionists gather and analyze this information while trauma
physicians and surgeons treat and study the injuries. This is then spit out to the community where
they can suggest other various injury prevention strategies such as increased
police enforcement and different vehicle design.
2)
The following
factors guided the model design:
a.
An appropriate
analysis system must be in place
b.
The research
model must be feasible and sustainable
c.
The model must
have general applicability
3)
They do this
by:
a.
Maximizing
existing data sources
b.
Putting
appropriate analysis systems in place
c.
Model
sustainability
4)
I choose this topic because I think that it is
important to always think of ways that we can improve our traffic safety in
order to decrease injury
Concept #2- Applicability of the model
1)
Models
collaboration framework
a.
Analysis of
the programs objectives and determination of benefits
b.
Recruitment of
the right people
c.
Development of
preliminary objectives and activities
d.
Plans to
convene the coalition
e.
Anticipation
of necessary resources
f.
Definition of
the elements of a successful coalition structure
g.
Maintenance of
coalition vitality
h.
Implementation
of improvements based on evaluation results
2)
Building the
coalition – getting together with medical examiners and chiefs of staff in
order to gather more data
3)
Case
definition
a.
Had to require
pre hospital EMS and were transported to the ER of the local hospital in
4)
Scene
activities
a.
Police
department was to investigate fault and
once fault was established the police participated in research
b.
Calculating speed
and what not.
5)
I think that
this a very important concept because it is involving everyone from law
enforcement to the community and stressing the importance of road safety (and
the fact that it requires everyone’s participation
