I. Jekyll-Hyde
Syndrome
A. Refers to those who do a complete 180 degree personality change after they get behind the wheel.
B. Jekyll = friendly, courteous, and neighborly, Hyde = swelled ego, and inner beast takes control
C. Classic recipe for road rage is anger plus self-righteousness, boil till ready to serve.
B. It is expressed by ignoring others or by refusing to respond appropriately, with the intent to obstructionist and oppositional.
C. Left-Lane Bandits-one who obstructs the faster flow of traffic
-for example: driving like a Sunday driver in the left or fast lane
D. How to deal with Left-Lane Bandits = go around them w/o badmouthing or glaring at them as you pass.
A. Verbal road rage is defined as the habit of constantly complaining about the traffic, keeping up a stream of mental or spoken attacks against drivers, passengers, law enforcement officials, road workers, pedestrians, speed limits, and road signs.
B. Purpose:
-of criticizing, ridiculing, or condemning another
-short-term relief of frustration within driver
C. But it results in injuring ones self-esteem and promotion of an alienated culture of discontent.
D. Stay calm and breathe.
