I. ROAD RAGE NURSERY
A)
- Road
rage is passed from generation to generation.
- Children
mimic what they see their parents do and other adults doing.
- They
will repeat what they hear their parents saying.
B)
- I was
shocked to read the dialogue between the two women who get into an
accident and the little girl starts yelling at the lady because of what
she heard her mom yelling.
- It is
sad how parents subject their children to such bad behavior.
C)
- An
example of children learning road rage would be if a child saw his father
giving the finger to someone for cutting them off and then the child would
do the same to other cars.
II. HOW TO TEACH A NEW GENERATION
A)
- We
need to help children develop emotional intelligence as future drivers.
- Parents
need to model appropriate behavior.
- Should
reward good behavior as well as punishing the bad.
- Verbal
rewards and material rewards are effective ways of encouraging appropriate
passenger behavior.
B)
- I
support the idea of rewarding good behavior. I think it is very effective.
- I
think teaching children is a major step in erasing road rage.
C)
- An
example of a verbal reward would be something like: “Thank you for being a
good passenger today” “You wore your seatbelt the entire trip, so I felt
you were safe.”
III. CHILDREN
AGAINST ROAD RAGE (CARR)
A)
- Founded
in 1997
- Parents/
teachers can find a variety of anti-road rage awareness activities to keep
children from being the next generation of aggressive drivers.
- Helps
make children more aware passengers
B)
- It is
a good step to teaching children appropriate behavior.
- It
allows children to decide to make the right decisions.
C)
- Some
examples of exercises would be observing and rating other drivers
behaviors.
