a. There are so many bad drivers in movies and on TV that it makes bad driving more acceptable.
b. My OpinionÉ
á I chose this concept because I think that bad driving on TV has become so prevalent.
á What I found most important was that people tend to forget that in movies and on TV, there are stunt devils doing to the driving and it is all controlled. People donŐt realize how dangerous it really is.
á My initial reaction is that people, especially young drivers are so impressionable and tend to follow the trends of TV that good driving should be modeled in TV to promote good driving behavior in real life.
á I donŐt agree with bad driving being so prevalent on TV.
c. Example
á Movies such as Gone in 60 Seconds and The fast and the Furious these days are such a bad example of driving. When The Fast and the Furious came out, there were a lot more accidents and driving incidents among teenagers and I believe this was due to the movie and people watching it and trying to imitate the driving in the movie.
á Even movies that have nothing to do with driving have bad driving scenes, like Clueless. There is a scene where there is reckless driving.
Concept Two:
Bad driving in video games.
a. Bad driving is sort of an understatement of the video games that involve driving these games use driving and cars as a weapon in which you get points for killing innocent pedestrians by running them down on the road.
b. My OpinionÉ
á I chose this concept because my brothers liked to play video games while we were growing up but none of them really involved driving like the newer games of today. So I didnŐt realize how much games have changed and involve driving now.
á What was most noticeable was how violent these games really are now. The point of these games is to be as bad a driver as possible using dangerous maneuvers and running people off the road and killing them.
á My initial reaction was shock. I didnŐt know how bad these games have gotten. I was especially surprised that a distributor of these games had asked for support of these games claiming that it helped people release road rage in a safe method. That seemed ridiculous to me that they would even think that.
á I completely disagree with the way that driving is being used in video games these days.
c. Example
á Psychologically, if people are playing these games and think that they no effect on them and their driving they are wrong. It is just like non-driving violence. Children who watch a cartoon that shows aggression are much more likely to act aggressively in play than those children who watch a non-aggressive cartoon. The same effect happens with people playing these road rage games.
a. There are 15 common emotional challenges that can cause hostility and aggressiveness on the road. Some of those are: immobility, restriction (with-in the car and outside), being put in danger, diversity, territoriality, multitasking, denial, self-serving bias, isolation and unpredictability. These can all cause arousal of anger.
b. My OpinionÉ
á I chose this concept because there are so many things that can cause anger and if people are more aware of them, maybe they can control them a little bit better.
á What was most interesting to me was that anonymity makes it so people are more likely to behave badly on the road. Like if a person has tinted windows they feel like they wonŐt be known and are therefore safer.
á My initial reaction was that there are so many different things that can cause anger to arise and thatŐs a little bit scary.
á I agree that these things can cause anger so people should be more aware of them and try to control what they can and be prepared for what they cannot control.
c. Example
á Multi-tasking while driving is very dangerous. I think that people should stop trying to get so many things done while driving. Driving has so much that needs a lot of attention on its own so you shouldnŐt try to add to things you need to focus on.
