I.  Mental Biology

    A.  Mental biology can be observed using our senses. 

    B.  Our thinking operates in our cognitive organ

          1.  connection that must exist between our mental operations of thinking or intending, and the operations of the physical body.

          2.  the combination between mental states and the physical world is part of biology

II.  Diagram A

A.     Displays passages from the Writings Sacred Scripture

B.     After we are resuscitated, we begin life in our spiritual mind

C.     Expressions in our spiritual minds is worth a trillion in our natural mind

D.     There are 3 levels of progression we must go through to understand spiritual-natural understandings

      1.  Level 1 is to replicate the diagram so it will be stored in long term memory. 

           a.  then a rational explanation must be created so it fits together. 

      2.  Level 2 progresses to the positive bias. 

           a.  Not at the scientific level. 

           b. There is a God and we have an affective organ and a cognitive organ

           c.  There is heaven and hell and eternity

      3.  Level 3 is the thinking level. 

           a.  the diagram is a natural-rational representation of Divine Speech

           b.  When you make this idea real in your mind, it you will experience it’s spiritual meaning. 

           c.  You can see the expression “mental biology” and it’s spiritual meaning. 

III.  God’s Omnipotence and the As of Self Free Will

       A.  God controls all events according to Diagram A.

             1.  This happens through immediate influx of the spiritual heat and light

                  a.  If this influx ceases, all existence stops also

                  b.  the continuous influx keeps the universe going

                  c.  The influx originates from the Omnipotent Divine Human

       B.  Swedenborg stated that everyone who is in their spiritual heavens of eternity can see the Divine Human in this way

             1.  Sometimes he appears face to face

       C.  the concept of “as of self” is the concept that God creates and controls the mental thoughts of an individual

       D.  No sense of self would be plausible by itself. 

       E.  We must have free will as a reality, not an illusion

       F.  God brings things from memory to our awareness which is called omnipotence. 

            1.  he gives us the freedom to do evil/good things

                 a.  we must strive to go against evil temptations

            2.  God’s purpose is to regenerate our character to live a joyful life. 

IV.  God’s Omnipresence- Not in Space, but within it

       A.  God came out into the natural world of time and space

             1.  In the natural world, he could only be in one place at one time.

       B.  Dreams, daydreams, or imaginations are made of objects, situations, events, feelings, etc

             1.  As an author of a dream, we are “within” the effect

       C.  Every object visible is there in space. 

             1.  Everything depends on space

       D.  Spiritual thinking is no way dependent on space

       E.  State attributes to love, life, wisdom, affections, and joys

       F.  God’s presence is non spatial and in time is non temporal

       G.  God manages through a downward series of discrete degrees:

            1.  Divine Human

            2.  Spiritual Sun and heat

            3.  Divine Love going forth

            4.  Divine Truth going forth

            5.  Affective organ in spiritual mind

            6.  Cognitive organ in spiritual mind

            7.  Affective organ in natural mind

            8.  Cognitive organ in natural mind

            9.  Physical body and world

        H.  God is within our mind and within our body
