1. Statement About This Site

ii. This page is exactly what it's named, a statement about this site. It provides information about the three disciplines of Psychology that Dr. James teaches at the University. Here you can read the reports of past generations in Traffic, Cyber, and Spiritual Psychology. In addition, there is a list of databases for each psychology field in which the user can read contributions from the public. The purpose of this page is to help the user gain a better understanding of what can be found on Dr. James' homepage. Very helpful if someone wants to find out more about Dr. James' work.

iii. I really did not know that the three areas of Psychology mentioned actually existed. This page also helped me gain a better understanding of what can be found on Dr. James' homepage. Until I read this page, I had no clue as for what Traffic, Cyber, or Spiritual Psychology meant. I was also amazed at how much information could be found on the internet. Each discipline had a list of what could be found on each of its pages. This page helped me find my bearings towards a better understanding of Psychology. Very helpful page.

2. Indexes For This Site

ii. This page offers five ways to find things associated with Dr. James' homepage. It begins by listing five different searches: 1] Index of Documents by Leon James, 2] Full Text Articles and Books by Leon James, 3] Index of All Documents on this site, 4] Searches on this site by Keywords, Concepts and Names, and 5] a Subject Index. Under the Subject Index there is a long list of subjects that can be accessed at the click of a mouse. I tried to do a search on the internet by keyword but the link did not work. The purpose of this page is to offer people a quick and time-efficient vehicle to access information pertaining to Dr. James.

iii. I found this page to be quite interesting because of the variety of searches offered. I was able to do searches quickly and effectively, according to document, article, etc... I thought this page was very helpful because it provided alternative ways to efficiently search for things.

3. Student Generational Reports

ii. This page offers access into four different areas of student generational reports. You can read the reports from seven different generations of both Traffic and Cyber-Psychology. There is also a link to the Daily Round Archives. Here the user can view the literature from students dating back to 1975. There is also a link which provides some reading on the introduction of the generational curriculum project. The purpose of this page is to offer the public the opportunity to learn about the generational curriculum project, and read the reports of past generations first hand. Hopefully this will broaden the minds of the reader and help the project grow.

iii. I enjoyed exploring this page and its links. I was able to read the reports of previous generations and expose my mind to the thoughts of others. I found it very interesting to have an opportunity to read the works of so many different students. In addition, I thought the link which provided some history on the Daily Round Archives and the Generational Project were helpful in understanding their purpose and goal. I will certainly visit this link again in the future! Hopefully someone will read my reports and be entertained.

4. Dr. Driving Says...

ii. "Drive with Aloha". This is what Dr. James' is trying to convey to his readers. On this page someone could read about what road rage is all about. If you want to learn how to combat road rage, Dr James offers a page entitled Three Step Program to Healthier and more Zestful Driving. There's also a link entitled Dr. Driving's Page of Random Acts of Kindness, where people can list their random acts of kindness which help battle random acts of violence. The purpose of this page is to awaken the public that road rage exists, and that it will not go away until people recognize it and consciously make an effort to improve their driving habits.

iii. I never really heard of road rage. I just looked at aggressive drivers as being drivers with no empathy. I never knew that agressive driving was such an epidemic. Reading this page really has changed my view on driving. I used to be a really aggressive driver. I would drive at speeds which exceeded 100 m.p.h. I never really took into account how my driving affects others. After I read some of this page, I now know it's time to alter my driving habits. I especially found the Three Step Program to be helpful in improving my driving habits. I hope that more people click on this page and improve their driving habits because a life is precious, and shouldn't be wasted.

5. Traffic Psychology

ii. This page provides information about the intricasies of Traffic Psychology. Here you can read about the many facets involved with Traffic Psychology. The page begins with a brief explanation of the origin of Traffic Psychology and goes on to explain the Three Domains of Traffic Behavior. The purpose of this page is to both educate the public on traffic behavior and offer solutions to positively alter their driving habits.

iii. This page helped me understand that driving should be an enjoyable act. I often experience anxiety while driving and never knew the correct way to deal with it. I would always counter acts of violence with acts of violence. I never once thought to pause and look at the source of my anxiety. It just never occured to me that there was a Psyche associated with driving. I now view driving in a different light. Instead of swearing at a person who just cut me off, I now channel that aggression into making myself a better driver. I kind of know the dynamics involved and can now act accordingly. Maybe I should take this class next semester?

6. Cyberpsychology

ii. Here you learn about the dynamics of Cyber-Psychology. It begins by explaining that Cyberspace is a "boundriless dimension" in which information can be transfered in a hypertext format. It opens your mind to the fact that the internet will only grow larger, so you better learn how to use it, or be left behind. In addition, it addresses the myth that the internet will negatively affect people's interpersonal relationships. Furthermore, this page explains that Cyberspace is like your mind, "a never ending source of thought and inhibition." The purpose of this page is enlighten your mind on the concept of Cyber-Psychology, its purpose and future.

iii. I kind of liked reading this page. I never related the internet to my mind. I'm the type of person who is afraid of change. Relating the internet to my mind helps me accept the fact that the internet is here to stay and that its just another dimension which enables people to interact. It was quite interesting to read Dr. James' perspective on internet use. Hopefully now that I have a new perspective on the internet, I'll be able to give deeper and more genuine thoughts regarding Cyber-Space.

7. Social Psychology of Home Page Architecture

ii. This link explains the relation between a person's home and a person's home in Cyberspace. There are a number of topics to choose from for attaining a better understanding of a Cyberspace home. In Cyberspace Birth Dr. James explains that he has two homes, one in reality and one in virtuality. The purpose for this page is to inform the user that a home can exist on the internet and that it is constantly growing. The dynamics of building a web home is similar to building a real home on land. Hopefully the user will recognize this and create a home for him/herself on the net.

iii. I found this page to be quite enlightening. I never looked at a home on the internet in relation to my real home. It was surprising to find out the similarities between them. I never realized designing a homepage was like designing a home on earth. I can put whatever icons, fonts, and colors I want to be seen just like choosing what pictures to hang in my house and what color scheme to paint my house. This page kind of instilled a new light in my mind about the internet, a more positive and creative glimmer.

8. Diane Nahl's Search Index

ii. This is the home page of Diane Nahl. It provides a number of different links ranging from "fun facts" to "full text articles". She also provides an HTML tutorial which is very easy to understand. In addition, there are links to two of her favorite search engines. Here you can also read the reports of her past students. The purpose of this page is to provide information on various search engines, enable people to read some of her literature, and help people better understand the HTML language.

iii. I found this page very interesting. After reading some of her articles on novice computer users, I found myself in a boat with many other people. She wrote that most online users teach themselves and the frustration encountered deters them from future use. I felt the same way in the beginning of this class. Mrs. Nahl suggested that more user friendly, affective teaching, literature be published to help first time users gain confidence and good work habits. I really enjoyed this page and its links.

9. Search this site by KEYWORDS, CONCEPTS, or NAMES

ii. This page is set up to be a search engine for the College of Social Sciences. If you need to find something in the CSS, than this is the page for you.

iii. I thought this page could use some color and/or icons, but as far as its use, I thought it was a quick and effective way to search for sites within the CSS. I also think there should be a little more instructions on how to use this particualr search. What words can be used? For a beginner, he/she could get confused and quit.

10. Address

ii. This site provides the information needed to e-mail Dr. Leon James. It also provides a vehicle for visitors to relay their thoughts and feelings about exploring his homepage.

iii. I think that providing this kind of information is essential in getting feedback on a certain subject or homepage. By providing this page, it is almost like an invitation to the user to speak their mind, candidly. I should add a page like this to my homepage.

11. List of Publications

ii. This page simply gives a list of publications by Dr. Leon James(Jakobovits) . By clicking on this page, the user can obtain the necessary information to conduct research on a topic which Dr. James has written about. It is a quick and easy way to gather a bibliography also.

iii. I was amazed to see how extensive the list is. It seems that Dr. James has done quite a bit of writing throughout the years. This page will be useful to me in the future if I plan to use his work as a reference. It provides a detailed bibliography and will make my search for his literature much more easier and time efficient.

12. Swedenborg Home Page Hawaii

ii. This particular link provides background information on Emanuel Swendenborg. There are a number of links on this page ranging from Swendenborg Resources in Cyberspace to The Life of Emanuel Swendenborg. Furthermore, there are many articles written about and in conjuction with Swendenborg's ideals. At the click of a mouse, the user can be beamed to a number of different homepages on Swedenborg. The purpose of this link is to provide a window for people to read about Swedenborg's life and literature, and also to see how different people view his work.

iii. I found it quite interesting to see all the different homepages related to him. If a person wanted to read about Swedenborg's view on the meaning of life, he/she would certainly have to view this page. I found this link to be useful because I was able to find various pages which had their own interpretation of Swedenborg's literature. I found his work to be very unique and interesting. Maybe I'll read more into the life of Emanuel Swendenborg in the future.

13. Tour Guides

ii. This link allows users to take three different tours. Each tour takes the person to a different site. The first tour is Introduction for Newbies by Calvin Cheung , next is Topics in the DRA by Calvin Cheung, and last there's Nutrition and Exercise by Darin Kawamoto. The purpose of this page is to provide a student led tour through each of the three subjects and allow the user to explore the internet.

iii. These tours were very helpful to me. The literal step-by-step format of the tour helped me get from point A to point B. This is a perfect tour for a beginner trying to explore Dr. James' homepage. I really enjoyed the graphics and color schemes used here too. Darin's homepage looks remarkable!

14. Spiritual Psychology

ii. A table of contents is listed which will transport the user to any of the topics desired to learn about Spiritual Psychology. There is information about Swedenborg's Empiricism Theory-here it mentions his three cardinal empirical principles, and also a section on the notion that cohesiveness builds virtual reality. The purpose of this page is to provide the user with information on the subject of Spiritual Psychology. The user will be able to access information about different theories at the click of a mouse.

iii. This page was very interesting to me. The graphs and figures used in some of the writings helped me understand the somewhat hybolical language. Without them I would have been clueless as to what the author was trying to convey. I think that these writings should be used mainly by grad students and professors in the field of Spiritual Psychology.

15. Daily Round Archives

ii. This link provides the user with information about the Daily Round Archives, which is a collection of generational curriculum text organized by Diane Nahl since 1975. It gives a brief explanation of the dynamics involved in DRA. Some information given are as follows: index of home pages in the DRA, applied psycholinguistics, and the objective of the DRA. The purpose of this page is to educate the user about the DRA program and hopefully entice them to participate.

iii. This page was quite interesting because I learned about the Daily Round Archives. By reading parts of The Hawaii Online Generational Community-Classroom Project--a 1997 description , I was able to gain some insight towards the purpose of the Daily Round Archives. I also think that by providing student's articles, it helps the user obtain a cultured understanding on the purpose of the DRA. This page would be good for people who want to learn more about DRA.

16. Full Text Articles and Books

ii. Want to see a comprehensive list of Dr. James' literature? Well this is the page for you. Here you'll find a list of articles and books written by our professor. Each title is accompanied by a short synopsis. The purpose of this page is to help the reader gain insight as for what each article or book is about.

<iii. I found this page to be quite useful because of the way it was organized. Each title had a short summary so I knew what the article or book was about. If the summary sounded interesting, then I would click on that title. I guess it helped me determine which titles were interesting to me and which weren't. As a result it saved me some time.

17. University of Hawaii Home Page

ii. Want to find out information about the University of Hawaii? If you do, this is the place to look. This page offers a vast amount of information about the University. You can find things from general information all the way to quick facts about the University. This page enables potential students to find quick and easy information about admissions to the school. It also provides present students with information about the school, which couldn't be found anywhere else, information like faculty by ethnicity, U.H. finances, or student expenditures. This site allows the public to view the University from the inside and out.

iii. I enjoyed exploring this site. I found out a lot of information about the school which I thought to be unattainable. It was quite interesting to find out that there was such a large discrepency amoung the ethnicites of the faculty. At the current time, 58% of the faculty here at U.H. is Caucasion. The closest ethnicity, in terms of percentages, are the Japanese, at 18%. This page enlightened my mind toward the dynamics of the University. I plan to read this site more often in the future.

18. Text Only Browsers

ii. This page is a listing of what can be found on Dr. James' homepage. There are 18 links just like on his homepage. I think its purpose is to be a simple mode of transportation from one page to another, sort of like a table of contents.

iii. I think this page is kind of a replica of the homepage. It seems to serve the same function as the homepage, just without all the different colors and formats. I think if there was a summary of each heading, it may serve a better function to the user. Overall, it is a direct and easy way to access the different pages on Dr. James' Homepage.
