Claudine DelaCruz
I chose this report because I liked the way it looked. The steps that led me to this report were as follows. First I went to Dr. James home page. Next I clicked on Prior Student Generations.  I clicked on 459, G8. I looked at a couple of reports and I chose this one because of the format.

Topic of report
The topic of this report is the definition of traffic psychology. It gives the reader an introduction that asks the question of what is traffic psychology? She says that we lose important information when we try to describe this concept in one or two sentences. She talks about the study of thoughts and behavior in traffic psychology. The report goes on to explain that there are three domains to be considered. These are affective (feelings), cognitive (thoughts), and sensimotor (actions). She also talks about some behavior modification methods.

My Reaction
I think that she had a great positive reaction from doing this report. She talked about her experiences from different points of view which I thought was very creative on her part. Her own experience is that she never really looked at her driving behavior before. She says that we all need to practice more patience. She also suggests trying different techniques to calm yourself and also distract your anger. As a pedestrian, she talks about a bicyclist getting hit by a car. She says that she thinks many pedestrians are vulnerable because a lot of drivers don't watch out for them. As a passenger, she admits that she can be annoying to the driver. She also states that she won't change that behavior because it is safer.

Comparison to her classmates
Irene Marianna Barrineau
The appearance of her report was good. She had the same order of information. The interesting thing was that she had all of her sections in different colors so that helped to break the reading up a little. About the content, she repeatedly brings up the three domains and emotional immaturity. I particularly didn't care for her one-way opinion.
CheddieMae de Rizzio
The appearance was good on this one. Her comments were in italics which I liked but perhaps she could have used something different. She discusses the 5 prior generations. She also talks about tailgating and how we can re-train ourselves to behave in a certain way in certain situations.
Irene Lau
I enjoyed the appearance of this one also. She separates her comments to the previous generation's by putting her comments in larger print. She also is of the opinion that people should modify their behavior.

My Selection #2
Kristy Kato
I chose this report because I found the content to be somewhat controversial. I'm sure that you all know by now that I like controversial subjects. They are just easier for me to talk about, I guess because of all the information available. I browsed through the same way I did the previous and following selections. I wasn't really fussy because I figured that one was just as good as another. Plus I was tired.

Topic of report
The topic of this report is Portrayals of driving behavior on TV. She talked about 5 different categories of television: Cartoons, commercials, music videos, television series', and movies. The cartoons that she chose to talk about included, Tiny Toon Adventures and George of the Jungle. She is under the opinion that children watching these shows will act out what they see. Such as racing against other cars and riding a bicycle recklessly. I wonder if these children are processing this information the way that she thinks. If I had a child who started driving at say the age of 16, I would not really even imagine that they would remember something that they viewed about 10 years earlier. By the time they start driving, they should have learned a little bit more about how to drive properly than what they saw in a cartoon. When we become adults or even young adults, I think that most of us realize that what we see on television is not reality. Otherwise, someone might just attempt to jump off a cliff and expect to live just as Wylie Coyote did in the Roadrunner.

Next she discusses commercials. She talks about a Nissan Minivan commercial where a man is driving with his baby in the backseat. All of a sudden, the baby starts driving a fake steering wheel in the backseat and proceeds to drive them to the toy store. She says that this will give the impression to young children that if this baby can drive, then so can they. I think this argument is kind of far-fetched. Even if a baby or small child wanted to drive, they could not. They cannot even reach the pedals. I think that the commercial was trying to be humorous and she totally got the wrong impression from it. The next commercial is on Sony Recorder Mini Disk. She viewed this one on the comedy channel. It is about someone hitchhiking. She goes on to comment that children viewing this commercial would believe that hitchhiking is a safe and cool thing to do. I think that it is up to the child's parents to stress how dangerous this actually is. They should tell their children not to hitchhike and also not to pick up hitchhikers. Back to the comedy channel. What are children doing watching this channel anyway? This channel has movies with swearing in it in the middle of the afternoon. Most of the cartoons on this channel are directed toward adults. So the first priority would be to find out what your child is actually watching on TV. Next she talks about a commercial advertising Goodyear Tires. She states that children watching would think that it is OK to drive fast on roads that are wet as long as you have good tires. Parents should teach their children that it is never safe to drive really fast, especially in the rain. I think that maybe she is taking these commercials too seriously.

Next she discusses music videos. I can't believe that she would actually bring this up. I really don't think that I would allow my children to watch music videos when they are very young. There are all kinds of suggestive behaviors in these videos. Some are very sexual in nature. I think I would rather have them listen to the radio.

Next she discusses a series on TV. I have no comment except for the fact that if you don't want your child to see aggressive behavior on TV, then as a parent you should limit what they are allowed to view.

Finally she talks about three movies that portray bad driving behavior. These are Nick of Time, Leaving Las Vegas, and Blacksheep. First of all, The first two movies have an "R" rating and there should not be young children viewing these films anyway. The last one, Blacksheep, was aired on HBO (that is where she saw it) and I would not allow my children to freely view HBO. There are a lot of things that I don't think children should be exposed to and dirty movies is one of them.

My Reaction
Our children will view a lot of things on television. We need to supervise them so that they are not watching something that we think is not age appropriate.

She has a nice kitty on the top of her page. It is moving, which I think is cool. Her links are all in one area, not spread out through the report. I found some interesting information when clicking on the links. I enjoyed the content and it was easy to read.

Jennifer Kaneshiro
I was very impressed when I visited this site. I think she has excellent organization. It was interesting to read because in order to get to another screen, I had to click on a link that took me there.

Kathy Teruya
I thought that this was the best one. It was very funny which made it easy to keep the interest alive. I found a lot of what she said to be true. Overall, it was fun and easy to read. It also has a good format.

My Selection #3
Tamar Carriera
I chose this report because I had come to the point where I am very tired and it will do. I found this one the same way as the prior reports.

Topic of report
The topic of this report is driver's education. She discusses driver's education programs and how there needs to be a psychological aspect added. She also says that disagrees with a suggestion that we should scare young people to be better drivers. I agree with her. I think she did a good job on this report. She includes class reactions and her own personal feelings.

My reaction
I think she has a good format with everything being separated by dark straight lines. There were also plenty of interesting links to look at. Her opinion is not very specific though. It seemed to me that she had access to a lot of other's ideas but very few of her own.

Comparison to her classmates

Lori Okoji
This girl did her report on driving psychology facts. I found this one to be short and kind of boring. She didn't really get into the meat of the issues she discussed.

Carolyn Agmata
Her report is on communication between drivers. She reviews prior generations' reports very well. She searches Usenet and posts articles and reactions. I found this to be interesting and quite amusing. She also posts some articles from Dejanews. Her format was OK but she used italics for her comments. As I stated earlier, I personally like this format but she probably should have used something different.

My Selection #4

Leslie Ann Francis
This report was on cyberspace and mind; virtual reality. I found this report to be kind of boring but I chose it because I was getting really sick of this by now.

Topic of this report
This report was about how cyberspace and the human mind are very similar. After reading her report, I can see why some people would think so. She goes pretty in-depth on why this is so. I liked the idea that she talked to other people about it and found out what their feelings were. She seemed to have a very open mind which is good. Not like me though. I don't really think the concept of cyberpsychology will progress into the future (no offense, Dr. James). She explains how she thinks cyberspace and mind are one in the same thing. She says that people can be whoever they are when they go on the Internet. This will not apply in real life. I don't think that we can really walk around pretending to be someone else. I think that this will ultimately result in losing our identity.

My Reaction
I thought her report was very informative. It included a lot of evidence that she may be correct in her thinking. I still don't agree with her,
though. Her format was nice but the text was somewhat hard to read. I would have used darker text. I think it would be much easier on the eyes.

Comparison to her classmates

Felisa Fuentes
When I visited this site, I was disappointed. She did not have very much information at all. Her report was only one page long. I also thought her format was very boring.

Travis Abe
Much better than Ms. Fuentes. I liked the dark blue text on the light blue background. I agreed with him when he stated that cyberspace is definitely not limited. I really enjoyed reading this report. He presented a comical but intelligent point of view.

Dan Hamamoto
Dan had an interesting content in his report. His page was easy to read. I did notice that he had a dark background, which Dr. James has advised is a no-no. He also had plenty of interesting links to look at.

My Fellow Classmates

Jamie Kimura
I liked looking at this page. She has a good presentation. The content was also very interesting.

Steven Weers
Presentation was really good. He has lots of links which really breaks up his page. Good job Steve!

Brandon Suetsigi
This report was informative but kind of unexciting. It seemed as if he listed lots of sources but it was hard to figure out what he thought about it. I liked the background color.

Jennifer Lee
I think this is a good one. I really liked the format. She made it fun to visit her page.

Flordeliza Fuentes
She has a more complex format. The content of her report was not as interesting as some of the others. Also, it seemed like I had read what she wrote before.

Conclusion
I think that maybe future generations should be given one topic at the beginning of the semester and be able to research that one topic more extensively. The advice that I would give to future generations is that if you are not into computers, then this is not the class for you. If you enjoy computer work, then stick with it. It seems impossible at first, but if I can do it then so can you.                 Just do it!
