C.R.A.P. has psychologists speculating because there are more and more people seeking therapy for help with computer rage and cyber-stress. With rapid breakthroughs in technology, many people are finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with the information and technology (IT) age. It is the lack of proper IT training and knowledge that contributes to computer users' impatience and intolerance of an uncooperative computer. Many result to physically abusing their PC. Furthermore, our lifestyles are growing increasingly dependent on computers which means that the problem could be exacerbated or tamed.
Consider the case of a 43-year-old Washington man who was so riled at his uncooperative home-office computer he grabbed his gun and did a Columbine High at the machine. He was promptly arrested for suspected assault against the PC.
Does this kind of violence require arrest and should computer users have ownership laws? You be the judge!
