Shopping Cart Rage

Shopping cart rage far scarier than road rage

In the article, Shopping cart rage far scarier than road rage, which appeared in The Standard- Times, Dave Barry identifies Shopping Cart Rage as being the end product of shoppers  who block the aisles of supper markets. In addition he stated that a second reason that Shopping Cart Rage is that supermarkets are extremely congested.  This leaves shoppers spending more and more time in the market. One reason for this congestion is that consumers are now forced to make more and more choices than in the past. For example, if a shopper wanted to buy orange juice they would have to choose from as many as three to five brands. Second they would have to choose the style; Original, Homestyle, Pulp Pulps Plus, Double Vitamin C, Grovestand, Calcium or Old Fashioned. Third they would have to select the size, 16-ounce, 32-ounce, 64-ounce, 96-ounce, or individual cans. Barry identified this form of frustration to be "Way to Many Products to Choose from Rage", which leads to Shopping Cart Rage.

I found this article to be on the humorous side. At the same time it offered solutions on how to end Shopping Cart Rage and other forms of rage. Barry's solution to people was that all people was to "keep our cool". In addition Barry did not only identified Shopping Cart Rage he connected it with other types of rage like "Way to Many Products to Choose from Rage". I found that point to be extremely important in society now. When one type of rage occurs in society it may start with one select group of people. From there the people that those people interact with will also be effected by the original set of people's actions. Therefore the second group of people would need a way to vent their frustration if they are unable to, "keep their cool". From there the new "rages" maybe born. In result the cycle would perpetuate till more people are able to, "keep their cool".
