Summury for the Selections for the Report of Psychology of Online Virtual Relationships
The notion of False Identities can have its negative and positive effects. The incident with the male pretending to be a female is a mirror of society. The positive thing about it is that it's just all fun and games. The serious thing about it is that it hides information that can damage a person relationship over virtual worlds, especially if the true identity is found in the real world. To some false identities are a way to feel good. It is comforting. It is consoling. Secondly, weird beliefs offer immediate gratification. People like weird beliefs because they are simple. Weird beliefs also satisfy the quest for significance: they satisfy our moral needs and our desire that life be meaningful. Finally, people believe weird things because weird things give them hope.
The issue can be known as an attempt to figure out certain behaviors that exist within humans. The notion of virtual relations over the web can be the stepping stone into what make humans personalities change. It's not natural observation, where a person is seen in his or her natural environment, and may tend to act differently because someone else is watching them. I believe over the web a person can with hold valuable information. The behavior displayed with false identities is an internal feeling that big brothers is somehow watching and to display true behavior may still be observed by some force. The concept of fantasy is also involved with false identity. I believe on a normally bases humans fantasy are about sexual situations or having power in society. With false identities this fantasies can be shared with others who have the same feelings and beliefs. In conclusion, I believe it's just pretending, like a game being played by grown up children.
The interaction process over the web is people exchanging conversation over related topics. Not until resent, people have become more intimate about personal matters on the web. Being they can express emotional stimulus to another individual by way of virtual communication. The computer generation is establishing a new form of cyber dating where individuals can engage in selecting a person of their choice. Just like in any meeting environment. Humans can play the mating game over chat rooms, newsgroups, and e-mail. Online Interaction has open numerous doors for people to learn from one another more on a level where facial expressions are not seen. This allows people to understand exactly what another's person is trying to say without the interference of mixed bodily messages. I've noticed in reason times that there are more online coffee shops. People can now have interaction on the web while having coffee. This friendly atmosphere allows couples, friends, and relatives to interact with one other over virtual cyber worlds. It's exciting to find out what the future holds for online interaction. I can image walking to work and interacting with someone from another country on my hand held watch.
I believe that expectations can be define in my own personal definition as something wished for but not seen. Like in the virtual world people expect to meet someone they feel comfortable with. The expectation comes from that individual point of view of how the other person should behave, respond, live, and be. In the real world people call this faith. Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. The substance is the expectation that the individual hopes for, but the things hope for are not seen. Humans' feel a need to be understood by most, but can't depict where to search. So they expect and hope to find someone they can disclose personal information with. The illusion is that this takes place in the virtual cyber world. It may not be seen, but it is just as real.
I'm not too familiar with Internet Addiction because I'm not a long time user of the service. I can mage that people can become addicts to the Internet like any thing else that people depend on. People are addicts to everything they feel that they have to use in order to gain self-fulfillment. The computer has and working relationships with humans. Computers are part of our daily lives and activities. Without them many people would be lost. I can't image the fact that people are trapped in this harmful situation. Computers are good, but to close values and family off is not good. I wonder if there is a treatment center for people who have this illness. I pretty sure the cost is mighty expensive! I wonder what's the first step in helping the victim. "Please remove your hands from the keyboard, and stop licking the monitor." Just kidding, I hope this incident doesn't get out of hand because the computer age is here, and people will have to rely on computers for everyday living.
Summary of Virtual-Communities, Virtual Settlements & Cyber Archaeology:A Theoretical Outline Summary: This paper confronts and issue that is very important for the future. A community in Webster dictionary is defined as a body of people living in the same place under the same laws. What holds true, is that a community is a network of people living in the same environment, but with modern day technology this definitional meaning for the phase community is no longer true. Can human interactions exist in Cyber-space? For many the notion that a community can exists in the virtual world is really possible. The article "Virtual community as new form of Community" tells that it is very much possible for people to form community interaction over a computer. The net provides a link into topics where people can relate and discuss issues that effect their everyday life. People from their homes connect on line to converse over whatever the topic maybe. The only thing that separates comminute from chat-lines is that community is somewhat a kinship network, which only involves certain on-line groups. The same ideas are shared and they are usually friendly. The first virtual community came about by scientists using the web too search for information over Inter-net services and advance findings in research. Now, the hold notion that communities exist holds true by networks offering use of computer mediated communications technology. The hold concept of virtual communities has changed into a multi-billion dollar business. Opening doors for investors to gain numerous amount of profit. Major cooperation's has gain insight on how to involve market strategies to catch people's attention through virtual communities. A debate is over rather virtual communities is real or just a connection network like the telephone. For a community to exist sociologist states that a network must be shared with the same beliefs and values. For example, having a common religion, geographic territory, and a common history. Sociologists believe that information exchange among physical presents makes a community. The term community has faced a change in operational definition since the early 1950s. This is because the term community is different depending on which context it is being used under. Many sociological definitions of the term community do not rule out that virtual comminutes or group-CMC is a new type of community. In conclusion, the term community characterizes so many different definitions. The term virtual community does show that a community can exist
within cyber-space.
The issues on virtual communities are a topic that talks about a picture of the future. The time is coming where humans have to live a physical life and a virtual life. To face reality will be a thing of the past. Human interaction will be no more by some standers. I feel that a virtual place can have its benefits. The basic human need is interaction and to some extent without personal interaction personality among humans will have no concrete individuality. Every person needs to be unique in order to live in a reality world. In the virtual world it's just the same, but only displayed over a computer screen. Can a person live and leave a trademark in history on an on-line service. I think so. So many lives are touch with cyberspace technology everyday. The virtual person can leave a virtual present in someone else's life. The only handicap in the virtual world is that humans do not have an interaction that places physical touching by another individual. People now have an option in the way of expressing their inner most desires, and expressing themselves over Chat-rooms, newsgroups, and other types of virtual clubs. In conclusion, I feel that humans and computers will become one. And without the computer people will be placed as an outcast of society.
Varity of Communicators is the second necessary condition of variety communicators. This is and interaction that relates to communicators together that posts their messages to a common public place. The common public place is the home database for potential users. It is understood that virtual communities exist in cyber space. The social relationships exist through repeated contact within a certain place. The issue of virtual community boundaries is a hot topic in Cyber-Psychology. It is said that the first virtual communities resulted in mid 1970s. The on-line bulletin board service (BBS) was associated with the label virtual community because all conditions were met. The over all view of the issue is it impossible to reject the inclusion of common public virtual cyber space. Can conditions be met that excludes the possibility that virtual cyber communities can be formed without a sense of cyber-interaction over a period of time?
The variety of communicators places an operational definition among the term virtual community. I find that the issue states that a common place must be establish in order to fit the virtual community boundary. From my point of view, I believe that more than two people have to interact over a period of time before a common place can between establish. Then and only then can a variety of communicators include themselves as a group? I feel that a social relationship has to take place in cyber space within a certain period of time. I would consider a period of a year or more between more than two communicators to be the right amount of time.
Summary: Archaeology is the study of humanity's past by scientific analysis of the material remains of a culture. This has lead to a new field of study that examines the effects of past cultural relations over the virtual-communities and cyber-cultures. The effects of this study have led to numerous discoveries of past virtual communities and virtual settlements. The significance of Cyber-Archaeology allows for the examination of virtual community. This allows the finding of hierarchies among older virtual-communities. It demonstrates the shift in cognitive thinking and behaviors among past virtual communities.
Newsgroups have open details into Cyber-Archaeology. The focus is on the different thought processes humans are capable of responding to. The interaction in newsgroups opens new ideas for better thinking. It can also display negative attitudes. The hold purpose of newsgroups to me is that the person gets to play God for a minute or so. Until someone else display his or her differences in opinion. The study in Cyber-Archaeology looks for these changes in behavioral thinking over a period of time. I think it's important to study people thoughts a decade at a time. And find out how these thoughts effect the world.

Summary: The major distinguishes be it rather the virtual community CMC operates on the basis in terms that the existence within a cyber-place operates is called a Virtual Settlement. The defining characteristics in order for a cyber- place (virtual settlement) to exist it must meet a set of conditions. Minimum levels of interaction, variety of communications, level has sustained membership, and a virtual common public space. With these categories a virtual community can operates in a virtual settlement. The condition that humans must interact with one another in any formal community demonstrates the effects among levels of interaction. Many sociologists begin with this notion stating that the primary groups must interact face to face over a certain time span. The only problem is that virtual communities do not interact face to face. For example, the e-mail listed where subscribers receive news is able to interact with one another is considered by most a virtual community.

Marini Singih report Cyber and Space Mind explore the cyberspace world and how it relates to the mind. Her report describes what a Netizen is. The Netizen itself is a new user to the Internet service and all the networks that comes with it. For example, chat-rooms, newsgroups, e-mail, and search engine. Her report talks about the significant of Cyber Space with connection to Cyber Psychology. The interaction between humans and computers can be just as real as human's interaction in a natural environment the author states that "Cyberspace is virtual reality made possible when communication is facilitated and communities are organized. Virtual reality is more powerful than natural reality. What doesn't get used, does not exist according to Dr. James. The content of cyberspace is informational, rational, and not in physical space. Instead, cyberspace, like mind, is in virtual space." With technology heading towards a new millenium. Human interaction will be made virtual instead of reality. Thoughts and feeling will be expressed through the computer screen. The concept of virtual reality is a state of mind. Like the mind, the notion of virtual relationships does not exist in a physical space. It exists in the individual's perception of what is real and what is not real.
Man's mind inhabits a great amount of thinking. Virtual relationship opens new ideas for better interaction and opens a New World where humans will someday be connected to computers. I found this report insightful because it is full of information. User language was something I've never heard before, not until I reviewed this article. The term Netizen world, is an operational definition for the word citizen. The net has brought a new age of Internet use from past Internet users. I mean that the use of the Internet now is not just design to find information, but it allows others to get involved with online conversation. I have the belief that humans interact with computer everyday, but more than likely don't realize it. For example, ATM machines where people withdraw and deposit money. The fast food restaurants where people place order through and machine window. The computer age is all around, and its going to be much more computer use in the near future. In conclusion, the Cyber world and the mind will embark a new generation within a new informational society.
Mary Rose Isnec the author in this report talked about the importance of newsgroups. The idea of newsgroups is a personal interactive virtual connection with people that share the same interest and idea. The author talks about their first experience in the newsgroups and how informative it was. Newsgroups open a virtual community with other Internet users. The authors tell people the steps into getting connected to a newsgroup like Excite and Dejanews. Openly being able to express the topics of issues is very important in the newsgroup atmosphere. The author's believe that anyone can openly express themselves in newsgroups because the individual can't be seen. The idea that Newsgroups can be a joyful experience for all those who seek some kind of emotional stimulus can actually take place in participating in related Newsgroups activities.
I truly believe that Newsgroups is a microcosm of society. The fact being that, newsgroups cause a personal interaction among members with the same interest and disinterest. With Newsgroups my personal opinion is that it really should be a fun experience. I feel if major topics or issues are put on display. I think professional who are educated enough to discuss the issues should talk about those topics. The fact still remains that you have personal Newsgroups that are made for entertainment and you have newsgroups that discuss very important issues. And I think you should not combine the two. I like the idea of this report. It opens new ideas about numerous related topics that are discussed everyday. I got a personal enjoyment in reading this article.
In Asako Shinagwa article is a writing hypothesis into Cyberspace and Mind. The author talks about the interactions among humans and machine. The relationship between humans and people are going to be one in which humans will depend on computers for everything. The author talks about the next generation and how they will need computer for work, play, and preparation. The concept of dualism is explained as the author connects the virtual world to the real world just as the mind is connecting to the brain.
The cyber world holds and knew from of information. Unlike a book cyber information is very fast and is often changed. The author experience growth in using the computer. At first she didn't know what she was doing. But later found her self becoming depended on the computer. The author used the term Netizen to describe her interaction with the cyber community. Finally, the idea that computer is a connection to human cognitive and affective senses is very much real. I feel that in the future the computer will be just as important than our other basic necessities.
My first adventure into the cyber world of online chats was called Le chat in this chat line service people from all around interacted with one another by means of basic conversation. I noticed that people who interact with one another on a very respectable level first. Then as the conversation continues the messages start to become more relax. I mean people began to let lose of themselves and talk about some the strangest things. It happen often, as I observed the individuals discussion on every issue from the president to what is happen to Elvis. Many responses may have been false, but I think the people were having fun. There was one couple that been talking for a while because they must have stay on the service most of the time. Talking about family, friends business, and the news movies. I think the chat-line service offers more than just simple conversation. It offers a method of creations, being able to meet people from all over the globe and talk about whatever. I wonder how the chat-line service is going to be in the year 2000.
The next chat room I looked into was called the Classic Cars In this room the topic was classic cars and people chat over what earliest and latest cars are out on the market. Much of the on-line conversation was about the details of cars and how to make old cars look new. I like cars also so I asked some ways in how to keep the paint job up on a fairly old car. I got a different answer from more than just one person did. Also notice for people who just like a particular car. Like Ford, Dodge, and Plymouth. The person can choose a different chat-room under each car topic. I think that was very insightful and it allows the person to find the information that he or she is looking for faster. The Classic Car Source is a prime example of the virtual world network into single subject design. It allows people to talk about one topic instead of chatting about anything. I think these chat-rooms are better because it keeps the conversation simple and doesn't carry over into other crazy conversations.
Chat-rooms like the Great Outdoor opens doors for the person searching for adventure. The over all information is well organized being that the information gives the person a choice into which outdoor hobby that person may be interested in. I like the outdoors and I what to know what places are O.K. to visited, but I couldn't get connect because it was Java. I found out that its sight was very helpful if you are the outdoor type. I wanted to go on-line and find some tips on fishing. And find out what different kinds of bate to use in order to catch a big size fish, but I couldn't. I think I would try this sight again, just as soon as I get connected.
The first place I decide to visit was the Atlanta Forum I wasn't able to participate but I check out what the page was all about. It was page for people who are interested in the information and events that take place in Atlanta. It was also very informal into the relationship of new business and opportunities for local people and new visitors. The local issues in Atlanta Forum are also a major topic. Methods on how to improve living is a major topic along with better house improvement. Major subject areas include Talk of the Town, Sports, Workplace, Home & School and Politics. New topics are added regularly to these areas. Unlike chat-line services this forum act with interpersonal perspective. It's not an on-line service; much of the information is posted. I pick this forum because I'm from Atlanta and are interested in the jobs and living situations there.
This forum was design for the creative writers. This was a forum called the Star Trek Stories for Teens The discussion is a hot topic on the latest science fictions writings by high-school students. It's really not a sight for Star Trek watches. The forum is for people who are interested in becoming Non-fictions writers. It just so happens that I am a fan of the unknown, and many of the stories are pretty good to read. For first time writers its is and excellent method to get your story displayed. I enjoyed this sight because it's very friendly and I'm a Star Trek watcher. I noticed the time and creativity it takes to write a scientific story. Believe me its not that easy.
The purpose of the sight is to inform people who like to gamble about all the possible games. The name of the page is The conference room I noticed first was called "Finance Area" Conference As a personal communicator it allows you to call your friends, chat with up to seven (7) people by keyboard or voice, show a picture of yourself, send and receive files, play MS-Windows .WAV format sound files, and browse the World-Wide Web together as a group. All you need to know to communicate with another PowWow user is his or her email address. PowWow will automatically connect with them, provided PowWow is running on their computer. PowWow runs in personal communicator and conference modes at the same time. If you are hosting a conference or connected to one, you can still talk with other people running
Pow Wow and use all the personal communicator functions. Its real a chat room that people can share ideas and get to know one another. I think it's a profit organization, so in order to participate you have to pay for the connection service. I find that this service might be faster than the chat-rooms only because people are able to interact with people they all ready know.
The next conference group I chose was the "Over eighteen" homepage This page was one I liked because it allow people of eighteen years of age to just "chill" and kick back. It didn't got into elaborate detail about how bad generation X is. The only thing this page discussed was topics that and eighteen year old person would like. Over18 is actually a conference on the English conferencing system called Computer link Information Exchange or (CIX) for short. Over18 is a state of mind, and a state of relaxation, and a state of chaos where EVERYONE is welcome. Over18 will eventually lead to all sorts of self-discovery, emotionally open interaction, a hell of a lot of laughter. I think it's is a pretty cool home page.
This web site was information called the Black Rose, Blooming Poetry The language of the soul. Both a blessing and a curse, it can take you from the heights of ecstasy, to the depths of despair. This ability, created through a blend of rhythm and rhyme, is unequaled in any other art form. It touches us in a place that is otherwise unreachable. It expresses what cannot be expressed any other way. I'm a fan of poetry and this page is design for people to experience some of the underground poets. Its very insightful for those who like to be taking away by words of bless and emotion. This club has a different number of authors so that the reader is not getting just one poet but a variety of many different poets. My favorite out this selection is called Tears on Black Granite.
This club is one that the happy or unhappy golf player would love to enjoy. It is called the Summerfields It's a helpful network design for people who are having problem in their golfing games. Many topics are discussed. For example, the issues of best golf clubs to purchase and ways of finding better golf equipment for less money. I don't play golf but I can image someone who does. The information here is very helpful. I think I will tell someone who play the game of golf about this club. It might be helpful for them.
Ameritch Library Services . Is a new helpful Internet service. Today's libraries serve their communities by providing information. This includes providing access to the enormous amount of data available on the Internet. To help libraries serve their comminute better, Ameritech Library Services has added World Wide Web, Telnet, FTP, and a full range of Internet services to its family of state-of-the-art library automation products. Ameritech Library Services now offers Internet connectivity for library patrons and staff ranging at speeds from 56Kbps to 1.54Mbps and beyond. This service allows helpful information to be transferred faster. I can image that many researchers use its this to help formulate finding to their hypothesis.
The service for Fantasy Football give all the helpful information of people how are interested in sports. The findings are amazing! I'm big fan of football and they have all the information from last year and this year. I found this sight very informal because if you're not a football fan and don't real know anything about the game. The reader can still gain some useful insight into what is happen to the players and what contracts are being made with them. I like this sight also. I think I'm going to tell my friends about it.
The (Citizen for truth about the Kennedy Assignation) CTKA is a political action group lobbying for full disclosure of all records relating to the assassination of President Kennedy. This organization was design to inform Internet users about the true events into the assassination that killed President Kennedy. Theirs links for any one that is trying to find out proof.
The information that is present gives helpful insights into videotape, articles, news files, and much more. It also gives information into CIA and FBI intelligence. And for a price the information can be sent to you. Including actual pictures and secret phone taps. This allows people who are interested in this historical event to find out actual what happen to President Kennedy. The user can enter the sight because it may have all the information they maybe looking for.
The information with the Montana Farm Bureau is and organization that deals with the expansion of agriculture in Montana. It a lobby group designed to give farmers and ranchers a helpful background into the farming industry. It's a non-profit organization design to help farms manage issues concerning land and livestock. Some important topics are global warming and how the environment is effecting the growth of products to be sold to major cooperation. For any farmer or future farmers this sight is very helpful to check out because it has information that farmers should know and understand.
The one I pick is called the "Internet café" here you can interact with people from all parts of the world. Internet Cafe, the first of its kind in New York City, is Proud to provide their customers with the latest and best in computer technology and expert assistance in a warm and relaxed setting. They designed the Cafe to welcome the new user to the Internet and to be an antidote to the Sterile, intimidating environments that people often associate with new technology. For people who prefer more traditional pastimes to browsing the Web, they offer both Computer-related, and general interest books and magazines, as well as checkers, chess, Cribbage, and Scrabble, among other non-virtual games. I think I would like to try something like that. It sounds pretty interesting. It seems like it's a nice atmosphere to relax and have fun.
I think that I'm not comparing my report with other reports. Rather I was able to view and notice the help past reports presented. I'm glad that I was able to look at past generation's reports and notice the outstanding efforts they put in presenting their web page. I feel that help me most in presenting my report.
My suggestion is simple. Have fun in the class. And don't what until the last minute to finish your reports.
