National Motorists Association

National Motorists Associationsis an organization that helps and supports drivers. The association is on the side of the driver and does all it can to protect your rights. There are many things they do for the driver. These things includes: guaranteeing the retention of your individual rights when using public roads and highways, support traffic laws based on public consensus, protect your right to own and use the vehicles you prefer, supports driving education and training, and lastly, to oppose speed traps and other traffic enforcement measures. I feel that this association is a great way for the average driver to voice their opinions and thoughts. Some of the driving laws may have its faults and with the support of this association things may change.

Drivers Education and Testing In America

Driver Education and Testing In America is a site saying that maybe the rules on how people get their drivers license should be a little more strict. It says that there are a lot of drivers out there that really don't know how to drive and it not their fault. The minimum requirement needed to take a test is too easy and doesn't really show if your a good driver or not. The I definitely have to agree with what these people are saying. It seems that there are way to many people out there that really don't know how to drive or what the laws of operating a vehicle are. Maybe the rules should be a little more strict.

Isurance Institute For Highway Safety is an organizations that help us become aware of the accidents and the deaths they can result because of them. The site lists a number of different types of accidents and their causes. Basically what this site is trying to do is promote safety. If drivers could just drive a little more cautiously and more safe many accidents and deaths can be prevented. I feel that this site is a good way to scare or help people realize how important safety is. If the people could just see some of the results of reckless driving I'm sure they will change.

Road Rage Quiz

The Road Rage Quiz is a test to see if one truly does have road rage. The quiz asks individuals specific questions associated with roadrage. If people tell you that you have roadrage and you think you don't this is a great way to prove them wrong. The test is quite easy to take. There are only a few questions and are multiple choice. You do however, have to wait for your results which could be a long wait if your really anxious to see what kind of driver you are. I feel that this quiz really can't tell you if you really have a problem because it is so general. However it may give the driver a small indication of what kind of driver you are and if indeed it seems that you have a problem you can get help.

Aggressive Driving and Road Rage

The Aggressive Driving and Road Rage site tries to help stop or lessen the problem of people driving too agressively. The site mentions three programs that could be of great help in the prevention of this problem. QDC's , New Driver's Ed., and CARR (Children Against Road Rage) are all working together to makes the roads a little safer. The person responsible for this site is Dr. Leon James of the University of Hawaii. He tries to explain to use the causes of road rage and aggressive driving, the negative effects they have on the roads and other drivers, and what can be done to prevent this. Aggressive driving and road rage can cause a lot of problems. Unfortunately a lot of people aren't aware of what they are doing or why. Hopefully with more awareness of this the roads will be free of this.

The Other Lane Is Always Faster

The Other Lane Is Always Faster is a site that helps us with roadrage. The roadrage in this case is identified by the agrressive drivers who drive in the fast lane or those who keep changing lanes thinking the other one is faster. They switch lanes because the car in front is driving to slow only to find the car in the new lane to be driving even slower. This site tries to help us control oursleves and just relax. I know that there are a lot of people out that do this, including me. I definitely feel that this could be a part of roadrage. People who have this probelm should definitely check this site out. The site mentions gives some good advice they may be of use.

Knowing Your Limit

The site, Knowing Your Limit deals with drinking and driving. This site mentions the negative aspects of drinking and driving. The worst result being, the death of yourself or someone else. The legal limit of blood alcohol content is .10. I don't really understand this blood alcohol content. No one should be drinking and driving period. Alcohol has different effects on different people. Some can handle more alcohol than others. As mentioned in this site, this can be due to such factors as the weight of the person. This site informs us our limits when it comes to drinking, which is, I guess good to know. However, when it comes to drinking and driving I don't feel people should take a chance on their lives.

Against Drunk Driving is a Canadian, non-profit, registered charity, founded in 1983.The membership is made up of victims of impaired drivers, teens, volunteers and concerned citizens. The main objective of this organization is to help prevent accidents caused by alcohol through educating people. This organization is interesting because all kinds of citizens have come together for a good cause. It is good to see that so many people care and feel that they can make a difference. They are the real heroes.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving

Mothers Against Drunk Driving is another organization fighting against drunk drivers. The organization is made up of all sorts of people who believe in the fight against drunk driving and is not just made up of mothers. This organization also tries to educate people on the effects of drinking and driving. This supported by a lot of past incidents and statistics. The organization first tries to prevent driving under the influence, but in case the person does drink, it gives tips on how not to drink or to stay away from peer pressure. This organization truly sounds like motherly advice. So many of these members have probably lost their love ones to drinking and driving. It is just said that stopping so simple as not driving while drunk is so hard to do. So many lives can be saved just by doing this one simple thing.

Contract Between Parents & Teenagers is a site that brings parents and teenagers to an agreement about how the teenager should drive. A contract is made saying that the teenager should drive in a respectable manner. And I guess if the parents choose to the teenagers can be rewarded for their good driving. I feel that this is a great idea. Driving is definitely a priviledge and if you're not going to drive correctly, you shouldn't drive at all. This is also a good way to teach the teenager about responsible driving at an early age.

This site, Buckling Up:Safety Belt Laws and Enforcement by the Safety Advocates Group tries to tell us how important it is for drivers to wear their safety belts. The article mentions how the increased use of seat belts has saved thousands of lives. It also mentions that as a nation the use of seat belts is still low. They feel that if the number of people would increase the number of deaths due to car accidents will decrease even more. Unfortunately, though it is the law not all people wear there seat belts. It doesn't seem as though enough people know how important wearing a seatbelt really is. If the people who don't wear seatbelts can be educated or informed that a seatbelt can truly save not only their lives, but the lives of the ones they love. It is good to know that organizations like this is trying to help people come more aware of the benefits of wearing a seatbelt. Seatbelts were created for a reason, they should take advantage of it.

The National Speed Limit Debate, is a speed trap registry that help drivers be more aware of the speed traps on the roads. It is almost like a map indicating where their may possibly be speed traps. The information is mostly provided by everyday drivers like you and me who from experience have noticed these speed traps and are just passing the information on. In a way the drivers are working together as a team to help each other out. When you think about it the drivers are helping each other not to get caught breaking the law. All the people who really use this site must be speeders who are aware of these sites and slow down when they near them. So if there were speed traps all over the place, maybe there would be no speeding. The bottom line is that by speeding your breaking the law. Maybe instead of looking for speed traps they should just not speed.

My Impressions And Reactions To This Topic


I thought doing this report on safety activism taught me a lot about different aspects of safety when it comes to driving. I was amazed at the number of organizations out there trying to inform people about driving safety. I didn't realize there were so many different types of topics that could be discussed. I mostly admired the people invovled with these organizations. Most of these people just volunteer and do it jus to help people. There is a lot to be learned about safety and hopefully all the goals of these organizations will be met.
