Aggression & Violence Among Drivers

Aggressive Driving -- New & Emerging Issues

This site is being administered by the New York Governor's Traffic Safety Committee. The main point of this website is on aggressive driving. If you visit the site, you will find a definition of aggressive driving, some safe driving tips, some studies on aggressive driving, and some issues about aggressive driving. According to the New York State, this webpage is advocating the "enforcement of the traffic violations which are generally considered to be aggressive driving." Its supporters are New York's Traffic Safety Committee, the NY State Police, and I'm assuming the people of New York. I believe that this page is very convincing because they gave so much information on aggressive driving as a traffic safety hazard. They showed statistics and safe driving tips that went along with scenarios where aggressive driving behavior is likely to occur. They also presented studies on aggressive driving done by the American Automobile Association which is about "incidents of violence that involved traffic altercations and the use of vehicles as weapons."

A lot of the facts and studies that they talked about in this site are exceptionally important because they discourage and prevent aggressive driving behavior on the road. If people would follow their tips and learn from the studies conducted, they're all very effective because they're straight to the point. They're not something that are hard to accomplish as long as an individual is willing to follow them. The methods and approach that the New York State Traffic Safety Committe had taken are: showing websurfers safe driving tips, getting the New York State Police involve in addressing aggressive driving by enforcing it as a traffic violation, and presenting statistics on traffic fatalities attributed to aggressive driving. The approach they followed fits in the overall scheme of things in the traffic safety world because they brought about some important issues concerning aggressive driving and its effect on traffic incidents.

Aggressive Driving: Help Get The Word Out

This website advocates procedures in helping get the word out to others about the threat of aggressive driving behavior to us. Not only that, you will also find some helpful tips in determining what an aggressive action looks like. Examples given are: aggressive drivers carelessly --> express frustration, lack attention to driving, tailgate, make frequent and unnecessary lane changes, rubberneck, and speed. Furthermore, this site also offers a test to determine whether you're an aggressive driver or a smooth operator. The supporters of this site are the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and I suppose all concerned citizens. What the NHTSA is trying to advocate is very convincing because it seems to me that they really want people to be aware of the danger of aggressive driving by giving tips on how to determine aggressive driving behavior and giving points on how to discuss aggressive driving with others.

It's very important to be aware of aggression on the road and to be able to get the word out to others who are not familiar with IT yet. It should be effective because you're not only learning more about aggressive driving, but you're also learning to help others understand the severity of aggressive driving. The methods and approach that they want people to learn in helping the word get out are: give everyone an opportunity to take the test, realize that traffic crashes are caused by the way we drive, reduce your stress when you drive, assume other drivers' mistakes are not personal, report aggressive drivers, and be a courteous driver yourself. These methods greatly fit in the overall scheme of things in the traffic safety world because they're helping everyone understand the pitfalls of aggressive driving and how it can extremely hurt us all.

Aggression & Violence Among Drivers

This site advocates ways to avoid traffic violence and the need for better moral training. The supporter of this site is none other than Dr. Driving himself -- Dr. James, and hopefully more people will back him up on this plea for better driving behavior on the road. The facts and informations he had bestowed is very convincing because he delivered examples that cause traffic violence like tailgating, giving stink-eye, and many more. It is very important, I believe, that we as drivers are aware of violence on the road and aggressive drivers so we can avoid any confrontations. What Dr. James is trying to defend and encourage is going to effective because more and more drivers are experiencing aggression on the road. I can assure you that people are going to consult Dr. Driving on how to improve their driving behavior because they might have experienced it or someone close to them had experienced it.

The methods and approach that Dr. James advocates to avoid traffic violence are: to commit in obeying all traffic signs and regulations; to remind one's self to drive as if you're being videotaped on a live TV show with camera and mike right in your car so not to cuss, yell, or showing threatening gestures; to keep alive the conviction that driver errors be considered from a moral and spiritual point of view; to use self-regulatory sentences to defuse and dedramatize driver exchanges in traffic; to keep one's self knowledgeable on the subject of driving; and finally, to let someone help you become a reformed driver, in Dr. James' case, it was his wife who helped him improve his driving behavior. He also proposes that driver education should start in kindergarten because he believes that "as they get older, children are less willing to merely obey and require external surveillance with the threat of physical punishment." What Dr. James is advocating fits in the overall scheme of things in the traffic safety world because the main reason that he developed this site is for the sake of greater safety for all concerned.
