About "Hawaiian Country"
The first three...

They have been together for over two years.  All members are currently attending the University of Hawaii at Manoa.  The band started in February of 1996.  A student, by the name of Dennis Keanuenue Kauwe, needed help to perform at a luau(Party).  Being that he played the ukulele(historic Hawaiian instrument), he asked two friends to accompany him.  His two friends, Fred Kekino Yuen(Guitar) and Joseph Ka'apuni Yuen(Guitar), gladly agreed to help.  The three practiced every single single night and had so much fun practicing they decided to form a group.  All members are Hawaiian and lived on the country side of 'Oahu so they agreed to call the band "Hawaiian Country."  The group even had fun at the gigs where they knew no one.  Aside from one down gig, all their gigs ended with an extreme high level of optimism.  With help from a church and family friend, Kimo Turner set Hawaiian Country up with allot of gigs and gave them helpful hints on how to succeed.  After a couple of gigs from Kimo ,the band decided that they needed an extra hand to play the bass.

The next three...
Fred and Joe decided to call an old friend of theirs.  Although their friend Matt Nakamoto's main area of music was as a keyboard player the, band wanted him to play bass.  After one practice, the band noticed although his bass playing was fine his sounds fully belonged to keyboards.  The band picked him up as their keyboard player and he has contributed greatly in the success of Hawaiian Country.
Still needing a bass player, Fred remembered an old friend that he taught how to play guitar to.  Fred remembered how precise he was about everything and proposed to the band, "If taught, Aaron Kanemaru would make an excellent bass player.  The band trusted in Kane(Aaron), and Kane grew to produce perfection and skill playing hi bass.
They played at birthdays, weddings, fundraisers and more.  The band loved their music and also loved when people enjoyed their sounds.  Wanting to have people dance they invited many drummers.  From the drummer of Tropical nights to the drummer 4 on the floor, they used all types of drummers.  They mainly used a friend of a friend, Lee Sanpei.  After Lee left to attend drumming school in the mainland U.S.A. a drummer by the name of Mike Bermutis became the bands regular drummer.  The band also uses a female drummer by the name of Jozy Cristobal.  Both drummers rip and click perfectly with the band.

Current issues...
Hawaiian country is currently playing at "Liquid Surf Den".  Located on University street it is a prime place to party .  The band performs every other  friday and the people their have lots of fun.  The band also plays once a month at "Ana Bananas."  Most people do not know of this place and are reluctant to go.  The place is small but the inside is built to party.  When the band plays there the crowd is the best.  They are friendly and always eager to dance.  Hawaiian Country  is in the process of scheduling an audition at "Stecks" in Kahala and would love to see everyone there!!!.  The audition is on April 7, 1998.  Hawaiian Country is always happy to play for your party whether it be a birthday, wedding, fundraiser or an event where you just need entertainment.  Just call them.
