Concept 1: Descending Steps
A) Concept, Idea, or Principle: This is the idea that in the regeneration process there are six different phases that a couple must go through. The first three phases are called the ÒDescending StepsÓ because we start out at a high point being inspired by the celestial angels who are the highest, and from that point, we descend from those angels to the angels who are in the middle heaven and so on. The three phases are called Romance, Dominance, and Equity.
a. Example: When starting out in a marriage, there is what is known as the ÒHoneymoonÓ period. This is when a couple is very excited and passionate about their new relationship. After a while, this fades away. And they move into the dominance phase.
B)
Psychological or Cultural Aspects: This is very prevalent in todayÕs
society. It seems like a couple
can be so in love but after a few months or so, you hear things like, ÒThe
honeymoon is overÓ and people have to check back into reality.
C) Education in School or Colleges: This concept can be taught in spiritual psychology classes as well as Marriage Prep classes so that couples can be aware of what tends to happen.
Concept 2: Inversion
A) Concept, idea, or Principle: This is basically like the transition phase between the descending and ascending Steps. This is after the equity phase where we take it upon ourselves to acknowledge that God does exist. This comes from within ourselves.
a. Example: A person can be born into a religion and just go through the motions of being of that faith.
B) Psychological or Cultural Aspects: I think that this happens to a lot of people. If they are born into a religion, sometimes they just go with it because it is what their parents believe and they donÕt know about any other options. However, they wont know for themselves if what they believe is true unless they take action themselves like it says in the DOW Notes. ÒWe must make this acknowledgement as an adult from our own thinking and philosophy within our private thoughts.Ó
C) Education in Schools or Colleges: This can be taught in Spiritual psychology classes as well as at home. People should encourage their children at an appropriate age that they should find out for themselves which religion is for them.
Concept 3: Ascending Steps
A) Concept, idea, or Principle: This is almost like the opposite of descending steps because you are starting out with the lower/natural angels and then moving on to the more spiritual and eventually celestial angels.
a. Example: You can liken this to starting out on a sports team you are a beginner so they put you in the beginners class with the beginners instructors, as you work your way up to getting better, then you move on to higher up instructors. The instructors are like the angels who are inspiring you.
B) Psychological or Cultural Aspects: Although each couple has to go through the same stages, some couples may never reach a certain stage while others may go through them very quite quickly.
C) Education in Schools or Colleges: This can be taught in Psychology classes such as this one as well as Marriage development or marriage counseling.
