I looked at Fred's page first
because I know him well and he is the one who suggest this class to me.
I saw his home page and it really caught my attention and so I kept on
exploring his projects and what he had included in his pages. I have
spent much of my time exploring Fred's work especially where and how he
present his reports for his class. In his generation I found that
most similar reports of any other generation. I found they stated
much of the same information and much of it was repetitious. This
made me enjoy his work even more because of his originality.
Fred's generation's report1 was about Online
Relationships. He includes much research on the topic from outside sources
as well as from class reports. He goes into specific sub topics of
online relationships such as "False Identity?" and his experiences with
online relationships.
Fred's approach is very appealing to me, and
the reason for that is we have very similar opinions on the subject.
I would have take the same stand and also compose the report in the same
manner. For instance, Fred talks about one of his experiences with
online relations and he says "they wanted to talk to me in more of a sleazy
way.... I did not interact..." I think if I were faced with the same
situation I would also walk away and not get involved with that kind of
relationship.
My reason for choosing Brandi's work to appear
in my Generation was because I saw that many other people had used her
report in there projects so I guess that it was a well done report and
I was right. Also as all the other she was someone I knew and therefor
could relate what she had wrote to how she is in person.
Also like all the other except Fred's I was searching
through the generations and found a name that I recognized and decided
to look-it-up. Her writing were consistent with my image of her and
so what she had to say made all the more sense to me. Her was the
first one that I looked at from that generation, but not the last. I had
to look at other in order to make a good choice. I did not spend
much time on the others from that generation, only enough to make a comparison.
In her report she talks about her field work
in traffic and what her results were. She would take certain aspects of
driving such as yielding and merging, then take notes on what happened
and how different people reacted. She also brought her prior experiences
in to the report. This gave the report a genuine felling. You
could tell what side she took and also partially how she drove.
Much of Brandi's report was a compassion between
drivers in Hawaii and the main land. This section we agreed on totally.
The driving techniques are totally different and somewhat reflect the personalities
of both types of people. "Drivers in Hawaii seem more willing to
give space and yield to another car," is one point that we very much agree
on.
In this generation I saw the greatest amount of
variation in the reports. I look at many of the reports and found
them all likable. I did not feel like I was reading the same thing
over again.
He had many parts in he pages that I would have no idea how to do. As I was looking through I remembered that a few years ago when he was my neighbor in the dorms, I remember him working on his home page for this class. I though it was kind of ironic and that made me choose his report. As I expect when I look at his report I was not disappointed. It was very appealing to the eye and easily got my attention.
Aaron's report is on his reaction to Cyberspace.
He takes a look at how he felt before he got online and how his opinion
changed after he got accustomed to being online. "That's a totally
different experience," he reports when writing about his online class.
He also goes on to talk about how he likes the idea of taking off where
the other classes left off and not starting from scratch.
I like what he did with his page, but I do not think
that I would be able to do it over.
I like his better then the others in his generation.
The reason that I first choose look at Yokoyama's report is I had her in another class and she always had something interesting to say. I concluded that she must write very intriguing reports. After visiting her web page and looking at her report I like it and felt it would be good to include in my generations.
She is a very good writer and I enjoy the topics and the other sites that she visited. It made it more interesting because I know this person and can almost see them saying these things in person.
Yokoyama's main topic is about Traffic Psychology. Her report2 deals with the anger that people feel when in traffic and more specifically when they are cut off by another driver. She takes idea and topics of other class and address them in her report also. She addresses the topic of driving differently with different people, being cut off, people who smoke while driving and speeding just to name a few. Some time during her topics she gives her insight as well as research and possible antidotes to help the problem being discussed.
Although I do not agree with all that she has to say, it was very well done and she worked hard to make this a interesting piece of literature. She and I both agree on the aspect of driving but I do not share her style of driving. I like her style of writing and would have done a similar report. She is very honest with her self in that she know what she does wrong and what makes her angry. I also do this and I think this is a very important step in improving your driving and dealing with other on the road.
Yokoyama's report compares very well with the others in her generation. She is very in-dept in her research and those she choose to use in her report.
When deciding which people's pages to look at I first went to
all the people's name I recognized and then decided if I liked what they
had to say and if it was something that I would want to include in my own
generations. I look at at least one persons page from every class
after G3. If someone's page took too long to load or was unappealing, then
I decided that I would not want my web page to link to theirs.
