NCADD (Coming Together Against Drunk Driving) NCADD has provided a site for the collection of research done on driving while intoxicated. It is at this site that NCADD identifies and summarizes various studies regarding drunk driving. It also provides a link so that you can search their database on topics that interest you and an overview of the research NCADD has reviewed and evaluated lists of studies and summaries. Also provided is a click search to search TSRA (traffic safety research abstracts/applications). This site proves to be useful for those who are interested in drunk driving. It is a good starting point for people who are doing research on topics relating to drunk driving.
Youth and Adolescents
This site contains information on youth and adolescents and drinking. It gives in sight on various programs that have been implemented in the past and programs that are currently being used. It is at this sight that suggestions can be found on how to deter youth from drinking and driving. This site discusses two different ways of deterring youth from drinking and driving. One way that was often used was to instill fright in the youth to steer them away from drinking and driving. Another one was on the up and up where the actual facts of drinking and driving were presented out in the open. These two seemed to not work as well as it was first thought. Since then more effective ways have evolved such as promoting community involvement. Several suggestions that were presented to deter youth from drinking were creating a zero tolerance law for drivers under the legal drinking age and the revocation of driving licenses of drivers who are caught drinking and driving until they become of legal age. Another suggestion was
the prosecution of minors as adults and having a record until they become legal adults.
