Suggestions for Future Generations
My Selection #1: Driving Cartoons by Jenica Guerra (G6, 459)
I choose this report because the title of this report is very attractive. The cartoons designed was very interesting. It would increased the likelihood of the viewers to continue to read through the passage. The content of this report is also well organize and is very easy to keep track on the report.
To find this homepage, I first click on the directions of exercise 10 in the internet literacy exercises. A link called "Index to All Generations" led me to a homepage where all the previous generations can be found. Different generations led to different homeapges and I could then explore the reports. I then look through some of the generations and reports that they have written. There were some topics which really interested me. I spent around 20 to 30 minutes exploring them, then I made my final choice which I'm interested in.
There are 5 driving cartoons on this homepage. This report describe the significance of each cartoon that was put on, then she discussed how effective cartoons are for teaching driving behavior. She feels that cartoons tends to attract people's attention. Cartoons attached to certain document increased the interest of a person from just reading a plain document. She also talks about how cartoon draws attention from the public. She believed that people who look at the picture will get something out of it besides the pleasure of looking at the cartoon itself. According to the report, creating laughter from the cartoons made allow one to be open-minded and accept faults in different ways. She thinks future generations could benefit from a easy access of cartoon databases. Cartoon education in children's development is also discussed.
I think this is a very attractive and interesting report. I liked the way she discussed in different parts of the report. Every sub-title seemed to be very attractive and well discussed. I would have say if she agreed cartoons attached to the text will increase the likelihood of readers from exploring the text, why don't she put more pictures and cartoons inside this page? Separation of the cartoons kept the page in good content. The animated tiger seemed to draw an attention of readers in the first place. Overall, it is a very interesting article to explore.
I think this is the best report in the class. Although there was another student with the same report topic, Jenica's report has a better content and well organize. I think that an important factor of doing a report is to first draw people's attention. If you don't catch people's attention, no matter how well you have written the report, it's not worthwhile. I think that she should have spent more time in decorating the homepage.
My Selection #2: Children's Self-Witnessing Report as Road Users" by Kendra Morgan (G7, 459)
I choose this report because I love working with children and I want to have a look at the self report by the children themselves. I have just learned the self report during the sociology class, so I want to take a look if there were any differences between the lecture and the report. Moreover I want to know how to teach the children to learn these kind of self aware, I think that this is a very interesting article to read along.

This is a report deals with the issue of self-witnessing. This is a technique in which the drivers can regulate and monitor their feelings when they are driving on the road. According to her report, putting a tape recorder in the car with you while driving and record what you are saying is a way to use this technique. She also talks about Dr. James' beliefs and plan about self-witnessing is one key idea to correct bad driving habits. She also includes her experiences with self-witnessing in this article. During this activity, she recognized a lot of driving mistakes and grumbles during driving. A interesting part in this article is to teach a 5-year-old girl to learn self-witnessing. She also includes her recommendations for developing self-witnessing method. I think this is a very worthwhile report to read on.
I find this report a very interesting to explore. It can really teach us to be more self aware in various kinds of habits. We can use self-witnessing technique in different forms. By this techinique, we can gain self awareness, and we can change them if necessary. Sometimes when we are driving the car, we tend to forget what we are doing along the way. Therefore a record during the trip is a good way to keep track of what we have done. Also, teaching the kids is a good way to let them learn in positive attitudes. The problem with this report is the title didn't have much relation to the article. The first impression when I look at the title is that all the article is doing with the kids, though only a couple paragraphs are involved. Overall this is still a very educating report.
After I have explored most of the homepages in generations 7, I found that Morgan Kendra's homepage may seemed to be a little bit simple. She did not put many graphics in her homepage which give me an impression of boring. Although the homepage may seemed a little odd, a simple and basic homepage give me a clear view and content of the report. The report is quite detailed and well organize. Moreover, this is a very educating report for the public.
My Selection #3: Protrayals of Driving Behavior on TV: The Teacher in the Box by Dan Hanmanoto (G7, 459)
The sport cars in Mr Hanmanoto's homepage attracts me. Also, the moving statement "How fast do you want to go today?" is very interesting. I want to know how television's influences the way driver do on the road. He has 10 random selected observations and ratings in this report. An extraordinary content was found in this page.

Mr. Hamamoto's report deals with five major topics. Introduction, observations, ratings, evaluation, psychological review and how the report influenced me. He identifies the number of increase in road rage due to the dramatic increase in violence on television. He randomly selected 10 self observation television shows, he includes a rating system for violence content and finds that there is a correlation between the increase in road rage and the amount of violence on television.
After reading the report, I could understand the similar situation people go through while driving. He clearly explains why the violence television have a relationship in increasing the acts of certain driver's behaviors. This kind of violent TV also affects the children psychologically. I think that the child will tend to follow what the TV does when he becomes an adult. The problem is what should we do to reduce these kind of incidents. I think the ratings that he have put in the observation will have some prejudice, so I think he should use a more optimistic viewpoint to interact with these problems.
Dan's animated statement really catch my sight among the other homepages in the generations. His content on his report led me straight to what he wants to say. After reading the report, I know that the influence on violent TV was a very serious factor in leading to bad driving behavior.
My Selection #4: Gender Differences in Driving Norms by Cara Lucey (G6, 459)
I chose this report because I wanted to know about norms and stererotypes and their effects on driving. The report tells everything, either the results, reliability and validity. I think it was a very detailed report, that's why I choose it as one of my favorite.

In Caraās report, she provides definitions for norms and stereotypes, as well as expectations as a result of these norms and stereotypes. She gives an example of a classmateās boyfriendās reaction to an aggressive female driver. With such examples, in addition to the statistics, Cara shows her points and clearly stated them out. Also, Cara includes in her report the results of a test she had passed out among 16 individuals. In regards to this survey, she tells of her findings and issues of reliability and validity. She ends her report with her conclusions about traffic psychology, based on the survey, and recommendations for future generations.
I feel that there is little room for improvement because Caraās report is thorough and complete. She writes her report well, making it easy to understand and providing links to other web pages so that interested parties may verify or check out her sources themselves. I believe I couldāve done the same thing that Cara did in regards to passing out the surveys to individuals and analyzing the results. The problem with the report is it lacks the usage of cyber-world. She should have done a good job by attaching graphics and colors. If she could only do such things, I think she should just turn in a type-written paper instead of posting it on the web.
Some of the other members in her class used fonts and background colors that made their reports very hard to read. The paragraphs were broken up very nicely and her use of a light background color was very fitting. Instead of just having a paragraph here and there, she presented her statistics in a fashion that made her report look very attractive. Addition graphics should have added to improve the outlook.
I think I am the only one to finish this part, so I will have this part
done later on!
Suggestions for Future Generations
You really need to start early in order to complete in time. As generations
are increasing semester by semester, starting early is the only way to
have this page done. Skimming through most of the previous generations
really takes time. Also we need to compare and choose what we like, it
is a pretty hard job. That's the most challenging things I have encounter
with this report. It has used up a whole night to set this homepage up.
So, if you want to do a good job, be aware of time.
