Oral Presentation #2-
I visited the Spirit-Web.org website and found that
the page was very attractive. Their motto on the top of the site
was, "promoting spiritual consciousness on the internet." The page
was very easy to navigate and the instructions were very easy for anybody
to understand.
The site gave a lot of facts about
itself. To fully see and interact with the content of the site, I
had to apply for membership to the site. I had to fill out basic
information and they sent me my username and password through e-mail.
There was various things to do on this site.
One category was called Newsletters, where you can subscribe to a certain
topic and receive a new story or whatever they have to offer that day over
e-mail. One example was called, "lessons from the soul," where if
you subscribed, you would get lectures on soul consciousness. All
you have to do is check the box next to the lecture you want to receive
and update the information at the bottom of the page and you're set to
receive over e-mail.
Another part of the site where you can subscribe
is called the Mailing list. This area had strict rules about subscribing
because of the abundant amount of e-mail to keep in order and send to everyone
of their subscribers. This area requires their subscribers to keep
up with the discussion on a daily basis and they also have strict rules
for giving feedback and how to send them to others in the discussion.
One example is called the "Relationship List." They speak about honoring
life relationships of all types.
One of the things that caught my eye about this
site was the area called "Online classes." They don't offer a lot
of classes and if you wanted to join you would have to join it two days
before it started because once it started, there is no way of joining.
One example of the classes is called "Reality Creation 101." The
summary of this class states: create your own reality through your thoughts
and beliefs.
This site has a lot to offer in the area of spirituality,
and philosophy. They don't stress any type of religion so everyone
should be comfortable with this site.
I got some different perspectives from this site
that showed me a lot of where my life stands, and how to enhance it with
losing stressors and worries. Many other things are there to learn,
so I recommend it to everyone.

Lopez,
Synthia: What do you have to contribute (commentary) in order to be
a member of this community?
A: It all depends which lecture or email discussion you want
to join. Each one has it's own requirements. Some discussions
you need to keep up with daily and some you don't.
Ortal,
Marylin: How can people benefit from the Spirit Web? What
can people get out of it?
A: There's many different subjects on many different issues so
you can get many things out of it. It gives different perspectives
from different people in their fields.
Pun,
Wai Chong: Do you think that it is better than Newsgroups? Why?
A: I think that it's better than newsgroups because they are
very strict with their content control. If you don't stick to the
rules of the discussion, they boot you out. There is no way of going
off the subject at all.
Thompson,
Jason: Does this page teach you self control or touch on the
subject on self inventory?
A: I didn't go much into all the subjects in detail. You
would have to explore the page personally.
Dr.
James: How do they define "spirit"? What do you consider
"spiritual" to be?
A: They don't define spirit on the pages I explored. They
do have a lot of opinions on what it is from different people. I
consider spiritual to be anyone who believes in a higher being that created
us and creates everything.

I felt pretty good answering question because the content
was easy to understand and easy to remember. I got the feeling that
everyone in the class basically had the same questions in mind. Everyone
seemed to be paying attention to me because I was getting a lot of eye
contact. The questions in the end gave me the impression that they
were listening and that everything was easily understood.

I think all the reports are basically the same when
it comes to content. The only differences I saw was the
appearance of the page. Some people had lots of pictures and bright
colors while others had a simple white background but their text varied
in size and style. I think because of the rules put upon the reports, that
they all were pretty basic looking.

You have to have some interest in the report you're doing because if you're
not interesting, nobody else will be. The better the person's report
you are presenting, the better your presentation will be. You need
to take good notes of the content and make it flow so everyone doesn't
get bored. Also make sure you take good notes during the discussion
because it is hard to remember everything that everyone says in a hour
long class.
