Hello, my name is Rudy and welcome to Cyberspace. I'll be your tour guide today taking you through a tiny phase of cyberspace. I have chosen to take you into the realm of Dr. Leon James Generational Curriculum. I must bring your attention to the fact that all that will be said here is from my personal evaluation so, you can take it for what it's worth. Please refrain from talking, but if you absolutely have to, whisper. Hold all questions until the end of the tour and I'll be happy to answer them for you.
1.Our first stop will be, The site information for Leon James. I feel it's a great opener especially if you have no idea as to what Dr. Driving is all about. Have you ever heard of Traffic psychology before? Well, how about Cyber psychology? You'll also see Spiritual psychology but Dr. James doesn't teach it anymore because of lack of interest. Having this information at the top is of vital importance as I see it, because he gives you the individual a chance to see if something like traffic or cyber psychology will capture your interest. For an example, traffic psychology if you have no idea as to what it's about would probably think it's simply psychology about everyday traffic. Yes, it makes sense, but it's more than just traffic, it's how you react to traffic. Well I don't want to spend too much time on this segment of the tour because there's an area that specifically talks about these special topics.
2.Our second stop will be, The complete topical index for Leon James home page site in Hawaii. Now, let me tell you folks, this area is like a Costco, because it's a one stop shopping. Everything you will need to know about Dr. Driving is right here. If you need documents, you'll have documents, if you need text and books, you'll have text and books, if you need something that you can't quite put your finger on, well there's a search for keywords or concepts or even names. The way I see it, this area is probably the most useful as far as you're concerned, because all the questions you have for me at the end of this tour can be answered right here. It is a wealth of information and all you have to do is simply click. I highly recommend that you return to this area at your leisure.
3.Our third stop will be, Leon James formerly Leon Jakobovits. Excuse me, can I have your attention? Thank you. Let's suppose you're in high school running for the office of senior class president. Don't you think that it would be appropriate to have the students get to know you a little better before election day? I feel that if you want to win the election, then it's important that you start campaigning for yourself. Dr. James urges you to get to know him by finding out what he's all about. If I were in his shoes, there's no doubt in my mind that I would do the same thing.
4.Our fourth stop on the tour will be, List of publications by Dr. James. All these names, and publications that you see here at this time are there to let you know that Dr. James speaks with authority. If you're on a computer writing a report that's due at a certain time, you better, and I can't stress this enough, do a back up. This area is to let you know that it's fail safe, because Dr. James has back up.
5.The fifth stop will be, The University of Hawaii's student generational curriculum reports. You see folks, Dr. James is the kind of professor that gives his students a chance to voice their opinions and can do so through their reports. He's on generation G7 so this means that there are 6 generations previous. Here's an opportunity for you to see the kind of work his students are doing and have done. It gives you a chance to compare what earlier generations had to deal with and how they overcame their adversities with generations of today. You'll see that it seems somewhat primitive, but mind you that in the computer world or cyberspace, there's constant change and it's for the better. This area is not only interesting, but advantageous for the G7 students, because they learn from the earlier students mistakes, misfortunes, frustrations, joys and excitement. It's a great learning tool if they take advantage of it.
6.Our sixth stop takes us to, The home page of Swedenborg by Leon James. Now, there is tons of information by Swedenborg and believe me when I say that you'll definitely find something interesting to read. Why this area is here, well, I'm not quite sure, because between Dr. James and his wife Diane Nahl, they both have information that could stretch out for miles. Anyway, I found something interesting about Swedenborg and that's that he gets into the spiritual part of psychology. I look at it this way folks, if Dr. James is not teaching Spiritual Psychology then I can't see it being very useful, and then again, it's topic may cause some arousal in some people. Thus, the reason for the information still being there.
7.The seventh stop on this tour will be, Advice on road rage and aggressive driving by Dr. Driving himself. Well folks, have you ever heard of the term, "Road Rage?" This is the area that Dr. James gives his personal comments, insight and advice to reasons behind aggressive driving. Talk about interesting and useful, you're getting it first hand from the Dr. of Driving. For the students in traffic psychology, what he says here is pertinent for them to know in order for them to learn, and to apply, because all of their assignments are based around traffic. I'd like to ask, have you ever been in a rush to get somewhere and find yourself stuck in traffic? Well, what do you do? How do you feel? How about this, have you ever cut off someone, tailgate, speed, ran a red light, turn without taking precautions? Did you know that all this and more are part of road rage as far as Dr. Driving is concerned? I'm sure that majority of his students agree with him after taking his classes. This area is not only interesting, but gives you an insight to people who are aggressive drivers. Who knows, you might be an aggressive driver and not know it. If you don't think you are than take a little time to read through this section.
8.Now onto the eighth stop, an area called, Tour guides. I believe this section is more for entertainment, and everyone needs a time off in their rigorous schedules. It breaks the monotony and gives you some time to stretch and spread your wings. I like this stop because it's like picking up refreshments before continuing on with the tour. How many of you feel that nutrition and exercise are important? Well, this is the area you can find out about it. As I climb up in years, it has become obvious that this topic should play a major role in my life, because it's not as easy to lose the pounds as it was when I was younger and active. Play around in this area, explore and have fun while doing it.
9.Our ninth stop will be here at the Traffic psychology and taxonomy of driving behavior. I mentioned at our first stop we'll be talking more about the subject of traffic psychology. Well this is the area that we'll be doing that. First of all, have you ever truly taken time to analyze your driving attitude and behavior? Have you ever wondered how your driving can affect you physically and mentally? Well, Dr. James students found out rather quickly when an assignment was given them. The assignment was, personality makeover. This has a very powerful message in itself, because you actually monitor your attitude and behavior once you're behind the wheel of your automobile. If you think you were a safe driver well, this assignment will make you think again. This area can either change you or not, it all depends upon your attitude of wanting to change. Some people have a difficult time with change and never do, but at least this area will be in their minds and thoughts while they take on the serious task of driving.
10.Stop number ten is, Cyberpsychology. There's a big world out there and let me tell you that millions of people communicate one with another through cyberspace. In Dr. James classes it's important to understand the concept of cyberpsychology, the reason for this stop on our tour. Have you ever wondered how people communicate in cyberspace? Have you heard of News Groups? Well, the old saying goes something like this, "Different strokes for different folks." In news groups people have different interests for example, some people are interested in cars, fishing, hiking, shopping, walking, traveling etc. etc. well, you can actually talk to these people via cyberspace. This area is well worth investigating, because it gives you a better concept of the word cyber. Hopefully my opening statement will give you a little boost in wanting to spend more time in this area, because I feel it's useful and important.
11.Well, we're already past the half-way mark of our tour and here we are at stop number eleven which is, Spiritual psychology in the Swedenborg glossary. Like I said earlier, this stop is interesting for people who are interested in spiritual things like the life here after. I remember Dr. James mentioning the reason for him discontinuing his spiritual psychology class and that being, younger people, generally speaking just aren't interested in that topic. It is usually those folks who are older and that makes a lot of sense to me, because older people are closer to death than the younger people. I personally feel that Dr. James should not allow this section to be removed, because even if he's not teaching it anymore, there may be thousands of older people who may be interested.
12.Stop number twelve takes us to, The on-line daily round archives. To be honest with you, I believe this section is an explanation of the University of Hawaii students home pages. From day one up until generation 7 (the present) students are required to create their own home pages. Having this section explains why home pages are necessary. It's like a home base, and at this home base you can reach other people, your professor, your reports and other things. I personal feelings about the daily archives, I could live without it, because Dr. James has so much more information and some of that information runs parallel with the daily archives.
13.Our thirteenth stop will be, Social psychology the home page architecture. This section is very exciting, useful and very interesting. Why, because it gives you the basic guidelines in creating your very own home page. It may seem easy to you, but let me tell you that if you're not the type that likes to create then your home page will look basic. I hate to say this, but it may look so dull that people may just pass it by. That's not good because there are people who have dull home pages, but their reports are top notch. This doesn't do them any justice so they need a section such as this one. It could only help them improve their creating power. It's there, only a matter of them finding it within themselves and believe me when I say that this area is a definite advantage for all creators. It will Help aid you in your thought process as you create your home page.
14. Our fourteenth stop is here at, The full text articles and books. Well, we're almost to the end of our tour. This section is an area that has the full text articles and books that range from, ethnomethodology, psycholinguistics, information searching, the Swedenborg information and much more. It's important because like I said earlier, this is back up, proof, reference to all information gathered. If I were in the shoes of Dr. James, I would definitely have an area like this in my curriculum. Let's face it, there's validity in the voices of two or more.
15. Our fifteenth stop takes us to, <"http://www2.hawaii.edu/slis/nahl/nahl.html">Diane Nahl's home page Hawaii Let me tell you folks, this is a really hot stop. It's filled with information that will satisfy everyone's needs. What I mean is that the old saying, you can't please everyone is exactly that, an old saying, because in Diane Nahl's home page you'll find everything. For example, the weather and the weather forecast is something everyone is concerned with, you'll find it here. How about surfing conditions, yes, you'll find that here also. I totally enjoy this area and I know you will too. It's useful and interesting because it has everything under the stars in this area. It's a great place to sit back, take of your shoes and relax. It's a resting area to explore at your leisure. It even has Hawaii's hot spots. Now tell me, what visitor would not enjoy finding out about Hawaii's hot spots. Spend sometime here and I'll let you know when I'm ready to leave.
16. Our sixteenth stop is, The University of Hawaii information. It's only appropriate to have information that a professor teaches at. I would agree to put this area in the curriculum, because if I wanted people to know about Dr. Driving, I'd like them to know where he teaches at, if the school is accredited, what the campus looks like and so on. It's a great area, but I feel that it really doesn't serve it's purpose in that the focus here is traffic psychology. Don't get me wrong, knowing about the school is important, but if I wanted to know about where to go, and things to do, I'd stop at Diane Nahl's home page.
17. Two more stops folks and we're done, stop number seventeen takes us to, CSS Webfind form To be honest with you, the only CSS Webfind form that I can remember is the one hooked up to the UH systems. It actually gets you on-line to the Internet. It's basically a matter of up-loading your reports from your diskettes. For some reason I don't recall seeing this on the curriculum, but I have used it. Now, this area is of vital importance, because it's in the CSS account that your reports will be graded, so knowing how to do it should be a priority.
18. Our last and final stop is here at, Dr. James home page Folks, it's only obvious that this area is probably the most sought after area at University of Hawaii, because Dr. James students are centered around this generational curriculum. It's not only useful but very interesting as you've seen on my tour. It's all here for you, at your convenience, any time, any place just as long as you're at a computer. As you already know, this curriculum is loaded with information that can and will answer many questions you might have about the Internet, and about life.
Well, this brings us to the end of our tour, I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I've enjoyed
telling you about it. If you've learned just one thing during the tour then that's good enough for
me. Your questions have already been answered, but I'll ask it anyway, Do you have any
questions? If not, thank you very much and I hope you all have a very pleasant day.
