1.) Site Info for Leon James Home Page
It is what the title says it is, it is information about what you will find on Leon's homepage. It incorporates his Homepage, like Dr. Driving, etc... with the Student Generational Databases.
Since I frequent Leon's Pages, I already knew all of this stuff. It would be best suited for the first-time visitor...
2.) Complete Topical Index for Leon James Home Page Site in Hawaii
An in-your-face page with ways one can find something of a specific subject. It also gives the viewer an idea of how huge and overwhelming Leon's Database really is! He gives 5 ways of searching for your topic. The first way is to go through this huge list provided on the bottom of the page. They other four are an Index of Documents by Leon James, List of Full Text Articles and Books by Leon James, An Index of All Documents on the Site, or you can Search the Site by Keywords, Concepts, or Names.
I am a student majoring in Psychology, and sad to say I didn't know anything about a lot of these subjects. I was ready to faint when I saw how many subjects and articles there were!
3.) Student Generational Reports
This is where you'll find the student reports. You can go to either Traffic Psychology or Cyber-Psychology. There is also a link to the Daily Round Archives which I will explain about later...
Once again this page is for the first time user. Veterans should already know what this stuff is.
Dr. Driving's page is not located on the CSS server. It is on the aloha.net server, his local Internet Service Provider. Here you will find topics, interviews, testimonies, and much more, all dealing with driving. It also talks about road rage, driving with aloha spirit, and offers some solutions to drive emotionally fit. If you're the type to get pissed off everytime you drive, this is the place to go get help.
This place is a lot less overwhelming than the GC. It is well organized, and filled with appropriate icons. It kind of opened my eyes, because I think a lot of people take driving and driving issues for granted. The cartoons were especially funny, because they were so true.
Ever watched yourself when you drive? Do you growl behind the wheel? Well, this site has alot to do with your driving persona. With further practice one can realize these things, and actually change your traffic personality.
Whoa. Very huge page. I would highly suggest to change the background color. It is way too bright. It gave me headache after 5 minutes or reading. If it were a short page, it would be okay, but this page is like 50 pages long!
Aha, this place looks familiar. I think it's because I had to do a report on this page in my other class. This place is all about studying the realm we call cyberspace. It is very confusing, and you will go crazy reading it. But that's a good thing.
Cyberspace is something that has no physical space, but it does in fact exist. Just like you can't point out to where your mind is. What they have in common is that they're there, and you KNOW that they're there. Another thing they have in common is that they are unlimited. Thoughts and feelings in both the mind and in cyberspace have no real boundary and can expand to no end! Brain size or Hard Drive capacity cannot tell the size of the mind or the size of cyberspace! Well, I guess this is an example of what Cyber-Psychology deals with. Confusing, yeah?
7.) Social Psychology of Home Page Architecture
Hmmm. This place tries to explain what makes up a homepage, just like another couple million links on the web. The difference on this one is that it has a touch Psychology in it. Hehe who would have thought there were Psychological characteristics of hypertext links? Who thought hypertext links had an affective, cognitive, and sensori-motor feature? This page explains it all.
I really liked this page compared to the others. Probably I could realate to a lot of what was said. I click links with extreme prejudice. It better look pretty spectacular for me to click on something.
This place has a simple table, where there are links to various search engines and stuff. It has links to SLIS places and has links to fun things and stuff as well.
I personally would have no use for this page. I can easily just go to any search engine of my choice from anywhere. Again this is for the less experienced web surfer to use... A good thing to have.
This is the address of Dr. Leon James. You can E-mail him from this page.
This is essential so people know Dr. James isn't a fake guy and stuff. What I mean is, it shows he has his doctorate and stuff. He conveniently leaves his e-mail and address so anyone from anywhere in the world can contact him if they need to do so.
This link contains Bibliographies to a number of publications written by Dr. James. There is also a quick link to the most recent publications as well as a link to eight of the actual articles.
Another overwhelming place, it is hard to organize this page. I suppose the format it is in now will have to do.
This section talks about Emanuel Swedenborg's ideas on "Spiritual Marriage and Growth" and "Spiritual Psychology and Science." We are also given links to a vast number of articles on Swedoborg and present organizations that follow his teachings.
Hehe... Spiritual Psychology is cool. Too bad I don't know much about it. When I have time I'll read all the articles.
At this site you can choose between 3 different tour guides. Tour #1 is "Intro to Newbies". Tour #2 is "topics in the Daily Round Archives". Tour #3 is "Nutrition and Exercise Paper".
I don't like tour guides. I think it's because I feel restricted to what i can do. I suppose it is good for the less-experienced web surfers. I'd rather do things on my own!
As you may have already guessed, this place talks about spiritual stuff. It brings up a lot of Swedenborg's work.
Like I said before this spiritual stuff is cool. A lot of it made perfect sense to me. I loved it when it talked about Virtual Reality being a true human experience.
This page gives you access to the Generational 499 projects on DRA. Students discuss problems they had while creating their home pages. There are links to the home pages of these students.
It is really interesting to see what kinds of things people wrote about in the 70's and early 80's. Things haven't changed much since then.In the future, people will see our reports and think the same thing about us.
15.) Full Text Articles and Books
When you open this site you are given a convenient table. It contains all the titles of the articles and books and a brief description of each.
This is great for those who are interested in the topics. But to me it looked like a foriegn language.
This contains all the information you need about the University of Hawaii. If you have a question about the universtity there are many links that will help you find the answer.
I really didn't like this site. It looks as if they rushed just to get things up there. A lot of the links are outdated. It took me like 20 minutes to find a link that would tell me the computer lab hours. It's hard to find good help these days.
17.) Searching this site by Keywords, Concepts or Names
This link will search for what you are looking for in one of Dr. James' webpages.
I guess this is good if you haven't been here before. Folks that are here a lot should pretty much know where everything is.
18.) For Earlier or Text-Only Browsers
This site is the exact same thing as Dr. James' home page. The only difference is that it is in text form. No picures and stuff, JUST TEXT.
For people who use text based browsers, like lynx on the unix system. Also for people who may still live in the stone age and have 386 or even 486 computers. But who still uses a 2400 baud or even a 14.4 modem these days?
