What is it?
My
Thoughts On: Dr. Leon James' Homepage
Dr.
Leon James' Site is growing rapidly. The organization may soon
become a popular "thing" on the internet. I see Dr. James as one
of the pioneers in web psychology and in teaching. Some people may
think that his three courses, Traffic Psychology, Cyber-Psychology, and
Spiritual Psychology are non-related, but it is.
I have been a student in two of Dr. James' Courses,
Cyber Psychology and Traffic Psychology. I feel that they are strongly
related. After being a student of Dr. James, I have learned a lot
about myself and how I process information, more importantly how I control
myself during stressful situations. Through Cyber Psychology I learned
how people "behave" on the internet and through Traffic Psychology I learned
how people "behave" on the roads.

What
Is WIB?
WIB
is an acronym for World Ideas Bank. It was designed
to be a Social Psychology database of human concerns. People of all
ages throughout the world can submit their thoughts and experiences for
the whole world to see.
The 3rd Generation (G3) students of Dr. James'
Cyber-Psychology course wern't very sucessful in creating the first WIB
of it kind. However, I don't think that it caught on because, it
seems that I was only the 555th person to visit the site.
I feel that the creators of the site had the right
idea. Right now I am in Generation 10 (G10) and we are participating
in web discussions. At least twice a week we post our thoughts or
experiences on the web. It's pretty interesting and fun. It
is way better than having e-mail discussions. In the past we had
to e-mail each other our comments on suggestions given to us by Dr. James.
Now we can visit the site any time we want to and our e-mail mailbox doesn't
get cluttered.

Plans
For Future Generations
Future Generations can continue
the online database activity by contributing to what has been said from
the prior generations. They can carry out the ideas and create new
topics as their needs change. They can see how they are not alone
and that there are other people with similar thoughts, beliefs, and situations
of life. Future generations can also go back to visit the site and
read what they wrote when they were younger.

Improvement
Through The Generations
I feel that the generational pages are improving. Improvements
can be seen if you take each generation and compare them to each other.
Try to notice the differences in, quality, depth, richness, technique,
scholarship, connectivity, site integration, and navigation capabilities.
I feel that the generational pages are improving greatly
with the help of technology. Faster computers and better programs
help in the development of web pages. The amount of information that
is available through the use of computers have increased dramatically.
Soon people will be asking the question, "What was a Library?" Scarry
isn't it? Well, the use of the internet has change everything and
with technology improving so quickly, there has to be an improvement though
the generations.

What
Is The Generational Curriculum?
The Generational
Curriculum is a series of reports and messages written by students
on various assigned topics. The generations go up every semester,
including summer school sessions. It started when Dr. James and Dr.
Diane Nahl was searching for a way to provide a platform for students
to post their authentic reports and writings. The theory behind it:
When a students'
work is posted the student recieves the feeling that
his or her work is real, it promotes a feeling
of self-valadation.

What Are The Benefits And
The Purpose of the Generational Curriculum?
The benefits and purpose of the online generation curriculum
allows for students a platform for authentic student writing. The
generational curriculum is a collection of students work on many topic
such as education, science, psychology, and lifestyles. Starting from 1971
to 1991 the students reports were bound and kept as a collection which
is called the daily round archieves. From 1992 this went online and students
started publishing their reports on the World Wide Web. The reports on
the World Wide Web is structured to allow for a more professionally done
quality. This is located on the index of home pages of students.

Insuring survival and success
There is no doubt in my mind that
the Generations Project will survive. I feel that this is just the
begining. There are a few things that can be done to ensure a slightly
faster evolution.
When I had to do my reports using
the past generations I had to search through everyones homepage of through
the Special
Award Page. I feel that there should be a filing system which can organize
the generations reports so a person can look up a specific topic and have
a listing of all the people who have done a report on that topic.

How
do students feel about being in the online generational curriculum?
This is how Susan
Chon from Generation 8 feels about being a part of the generations:"Hello
and thank you for taking the time out to stop by! This is my first attempt
at creating a homepage and luckily, this is the starting point for my journey
through some different aspects of Cyberspace. I think this whole concept
of publishing my works on the Internet is amazing! People who are on the
other side of the world will be able to click on my page and learn a little
about me, without ever actually meeting me in person. Well, I hope you
all enjoy your visit as you come along with me and learn about my experiences
in Cyberspace."
Mark
Jenkins from Generation 8 writes:"I feel pretty good!
Because I've never thought of myself working on such thing, especially
the World Wide Web. I've felt while taking Psychology 409 class, I would
understand the methods in learning how to operate a computer. I had no
idea that I would be presenting my work to millions of viewers. It really
makes me think about how far computers have advanced in the past couple
of years. The computer generation is an amazing feeling, just knowing that
I'm a part of it is a wonderful experience."
As for myself, I feel great!
This is the second time that I am taking a course from Dr. James.
Being a part of the generational Curriculum has helped me grow. I
feel that I learned a lot about how others think and more importantly how
I think. It really feels great to see that my work is being posted
and available for the whole world to see. It's true, "When
a students' work is posted the student recieves the feeling that his or
her work is real, it promotes a feeling of self-valadation." at
least for me.

The
Difficulties of Learning and Adapting to The Internet
I have helped a couple of people in this class. The
common problems that the had was using the computer. Most of them
were computer illederate and they had trouble getting used to the computer
and later, creating a web page.
Lori
Rapoza's Report #2 talks about how she felt when she started to adapt
to the internet. I also found Dana
Rho's Report #2 to be very informatative. She gives good advice
to future generations that has helped me when I first took this class.

Conclusion
In conclusion, I am glad that I am part of the generational
curriculum and that I have gotten to be a part of this. I truly believe
that this will catch on and the generational curriculum will be bigger
than we ever could imagine.
As the past generations have said before. There
are times when you just want to give up. As for me, the hardest part
was getting started. Once you start and you see that you are getting
something done, you just can't stop till it's completed.
