Why I picked this report: Report
1 by Travis Abe
I picked this report for several
different reasons. A huge influence that this particular report had on
me was the appeal of the student?s homepage. It was eye catching. The subject
of this report was television influences on people?s driving which to me
is an interesting subject. I also picked this report, because he had a
really easy to read writing style. It wasn?t textbook style writing. It
was more magazine style. I enjoyed it. The organization of the report was
very easy to follow. Overall, it was the homepage that really struck me.
The subject of the report was what led me to firmly decide on this report.
The steps that led me to this report:
Report
1 by Travis Abe
The first thing that I did
was go to "All Prior Student Generations". From there I picked G7, because
I did not want something too old or something too new. I clicked on a few
names before I hit upon Travis? homepage. When reaching his homepage, I
clicked on the link that took me to his report 1. I had browsed trough
about 3 or 4 other students? pages before deciding on Travis?.
Description of this report: Report
1 by Travis Abe
This report was about television
driving behavior having any influence on people in the real world. Travis
looked at and observed several media portrayals of driving behaviors and
rated them according to their realistic appeal, the action sequence, and
the influence it could have on people in the real world. The types of media
he observed were television, movies, and commercials. He gave a brief repot
on what each one was about and then rated each on a scale of one to five
on the three categories mentioned above.
My reaction to this report: Report
1 by Travis Abe
I was impressed with Travis?
report. I thought it was very original how he compared different forms
of media with each other. I enjoyed reading this report, because it was
easy reading. It was not any more complicated than it had to be. I definitely
think that I could have done the same thing, because it?s a subject that
is interesting and the format that it was reported was original. I liked
the way he had a ratings scale and the different modes of media. He was
very thorough in his evaluation. The descriptions of each section were
very detailed and understandable. The only critique that I have is that
it was sort of book report style. The media that he chose were ones that
were familiar to him. This could cause room for bias. His strength was
that he was very thorough. To better this report, maybe he could have looked
into more movies that he was not so familiar with and that he knew about.

Travis? report was one of the more
eye catching reports. His homepage was what hooked me. I liked it for the
graphics. It was more original than most people?s. The background was really
funky. I like this report, becuase it was a little more easy to read.
It had a very easy to follow format where everything was not just text.
It was interesting for the tables of his rating scale. Travis' report
was a little more informal where it appeared that he was having fun writing
it. It wasn't extremely technical, but very enjoyable.
Why I picked this report:
Report
2 by Marshall Miyoshi
I picked this report, because the
topic was interesting. The homepage of this person was not as exciting
as Travis?, but the topic of his report was what caught my eye. It was
something different from other topics that other people were writing about.
Steps that led me to this report: Report
2 by Marshall Miyoshi
I took the same steps to find this
report that I did to find Travis?. I went looking through G7 of the psy409
class and clicked on a few names. I did not pick this report at first,
because the homepage was boring. I did go back, because I liked the topic
of his report and decided that I should not judge it according to its appearance.
Description of this report: Report
2 by Marshall Miyoshi
This report was about the effectiveness
of having a driving buddy. The student did some research on the subject
of a driving makeover. Then continued on to his experiment. The student
used his father as his subject and made a couple of observations on his
driving behavior for the first day. Then the next day attempted to modify
it. It was humorous. He then continued on about debriefing him. The last
part of his report was a discussion on each day and then an epilogue.
My reaction to this report: Report
2 by Marshall Miyoshi
I know I could do a project like this
one, but it would definitely be challenging to find a subject that is willing
and cooperative. A weakness is that the test period was so short, but a
strength was that the student did not force his subject to stay in the
project. It was also good that he debriefed his subject. I thought that
was interesting since he just used his dad, but I guess it was still necessary.
Maybe it wasn?t a good idea to use his father as a subject. He could have
used a friend or a co-worker. This would have eliminated any power struggles
between the subject and the researcher. I?m pretty sure that an experiment
like this with my mom would end up just as short.

Marshall's report was also very fun
to read. The topic was interesting where it was an actual experiement
he had to conduct. This report also was informal like Travis'.
It sounded like he had a lot of fun doing it although his dad got mad at
him afterwards. His back up references or research was not as extensive
as those of others. He didn't use as many references as Ryan's report.
However, maybe he couldn't find as many references as he. This was
a reader friendly report where it did not take a lot of technical knowledge
to understand what he was writing about.
Why I picked this report: Report
3 by Charles Kam
I picked this report for the same
reasons that I picked the other two reports. Basically one reason is the
appeal of the homepage and two the topic of the report. The length of the
report also had something to do with me selecting a certain report. We
discussed cyberspace citizenship in class, and I found it to be interesting.
I also picked this report, because it discussed the stress that a student
may feel from taking these computer literacy classes. It also encourages
one to keep at it no matter how frustrating it may become.
Steps that led me to this report:
Report

The steps I took to find this report
wasn?t any different from the other two. I basically went through the prior
generational reports and then chose G7. I scrolled through some of the
students? names and reports before deciding on this one. I probably went
through about 5 different names before I decided on this one.
Description of this report: Report

This report was really interesting.
This student reevaluated their scores for the psychology exercises. He
realized how unhappy he was learning these exercises. He tracked the way
he was feeling for each and then evaluated himself from a stand back point
of view. I really liked how he ends his report with tremendous amounts
of encouragement for future generations.
My reaction to this report: Report
3 by Charles Kam
I definitely think I could do the
same thing. I am not really sure how I have been rating myself on these
exercises. I was very impressed and left with a very good feeling after
reading this report. I feel like I can conquer this cyber fear with patience
and an open mind. I liked how he presented his data in an easy to read
table format. It was easy to compare to other exercise ratings. I am not
sure what he could have left out. Maybe he could have compared his score
with another person?s score in the class. The strength in this report is
that he encourages people to overcome their fear of the computer with his
words and the words of others.
Comparison with others: Report

Charles' report was also very
reader friendly. It was easy to comprehend without a lot of previous
knowledge of a particular subject. I liked Charles' report, because
he also did comparisons like Travis'. His tables were even clear
and easy to read than Travis'. It was also different, because he
did a self study where he was his own subject. I believe you called
it self monitoring. This report was also similar to that of Ryan's,
because his report has content that is useful to future generations.
He encourages other students to keep trying to overcome their fear of the
computer.
Why I picked this report: Report
4 by Ryan Shintani
Okay, I admit this report was not
picked, because I liked the topic. I picked it, because I needed to read
and learn about web design a little so that I can get through this class.
This report was thorough and is one of the reasons why I picked it. I read
it in hopes that it will give me some pointers of what to do and what not
to do on my web page if it ever gets finished.
Steps that led me to this report:
Report
4 by Ryan Shintani
I took the same steps that I did for
the last three reports. I did not want to pick this report at first, because
it was so long, but I did any ways. I looked through almost the entire
class list of names and report,a nd decided that this was one of the better
reports with a topic that might be of use later.
Description of this report: Report
4 by Ryan Shintani
This report
was really long and tiring to read. It was about web design. He talked
about sites he had gone to that were "savvy" and sites that were "sucky".
Then he rated and talked about things that made a savvy or sucky site.
Web architecture is basically everything that he talked about from the
feelings of being a web page designer to the psychological aspects of a
web page.
My reaction to this report: Report
4 by Ryan Shintani
I hated reading this report,
because it took so long. Plus I didn?t pick it for the most exciting topic.
I picked it, because I needed to. I don?t think I could do a report like
this one, because I am not even close to being qualified to give advice
on how to design a web page since I barely know how to even post one. Haha!
But the time will come one day when I look back at all my troubles with
getting through this class and I will laugh. This student?s report was
very logical. It was thought out well and well organized. It does get a
little boring, because he just talks about his own opinion on web pages
and maybe gets a little too detailed.
Comparison with others: Report
4 by Ryan Shintani
This report was defintitely
much longer than that of other reports. The web page was more colorful
and appealing than some that I had browsed through. This was the most technical
of all four reports that I looked at. It was also much more technical
than most reports that I looked at. It did include only one icon.
There were no tables or rating scales, or even funny stories about their
dad yelling at them for critcizing the way that they drive.
It was straight forward text on what to do and what not to do on one's
web page. Ryan although it was highly technical, used terms that
were more ordinary like "savvy" and "sucky". It was much like that
of Charles' report, because it gives advice for future generations.
