REPORT 1: Tailgating Behavior: Fair or Unfair?

By Juliet Baptista  Psy 459 G11

Reason For Juliet's Report

Juliet's name looked familiar when I was browsing through the index for all generation.  I thought I knew her But I actually don't have any Idea who she is.  I just went to her page and I started to have an interest in what I see.

Steps That Lead Me to Juliet's Report

I was browsing through all of the homepages of the past generations and I thought that it would be best if I start to the one that is closest to our generation.  Juliet's name was first to appear when I clicked at G11 homepages of Psychology 459.  I thought that I would start from the top and work on my way down the line if I was not interested in what I read and see.

Summary

Juliets' report on tailgating behavior started the definition of tailgating from other students from the past generations.  She then included her interpretation on what tailgating means and related it to the meanings that was described by other students from the past generations.  She also mentioned that from a moral and ethical aspects tailgaters think that they are not doing anything wrong.  Furthermore, she also stated that tailgaters may feel that they have the right to do whatever they want because they only care about themselves.  Juliet mentioned that she never tailgates because she did not want to be the cause of any trouble or accident that might happen while she is driving.  Finally, Juliet again expressed how she feels about tailgating on her conclusion and she also went ahead and described her feelings and knowledge that she has gained in doing this report.

My Reactions on Juliet's Report

I enjoyed reading juliet's report and browsing through her webpage as well.  I like the way she did her report because it is very simple yet it is very informative.  I enjoyed looking at the beautiful designs that Juliet had on her page.  The report is simple yet it covers a lot of information and facts about tailgating.

Comparison to Other Reports

Juliet's report seems to be similar to the other reports that were done by her peers.  I thought that this report was very clear and straight to the point.  The looks of the page were simple yet when I started to read the report, I gained more knowledge and gave me an idea on how I should do my report.

REPORT 2: Report on How Music Affects Driver.

by Jason Thompson   Psychology 459 G11

Reason For Jason's Report

I was interested in Jason's opinion about this music and driving.  I wanted to know what his thoughts are and how he feels about the combination of music and driving.  I thought that Jason had some interesting thoughts and I made the assumption that I could get a lot of ideas about how music and driving affects our societies today.

Steps That Lead Me To Jason's Report

After looking at Juliet Baptista's webpage, I went back to the G11 webpage of the 459.  It is there that I saw Jason's nameon the list as one of the G11 students.  I thought that jason's webpage deserves to be looked upon in hope that I may get something out of it.

Summary

Jason's report was about music and driving.  Jason started his report by summarizing all of the emails that was from G7 in regards to music and driving.  According to Jason, all of the email postings talk about the issue of music and driving and how it affects their lives in different ways.  Jason expressed his thoughts about music and driving.  He stated that he agree with the fact that rock music wiht a strong beat can have a stimulating effect on some people.  Then Jason talked about the typed of music he listens to.  He said that it depends on what kind of mood he is in because he believes that music can affect the way a person feels and also can change a persons attitude towards something.  Finally,  Jason included some internet sites where more topics about music and driving could be found.  He also summarized a part of Rothe's book but I don't exactly know if it was the same book we are using this semester for the psychology 459 class.

My Reaction

Jason did an excellent work in doing this report.  Like Juliet, Jason's report was straight to the poitn and informative.  In addition to all the information he provided, the internet sites that were also provided in this report can be a very valuanle asset for the future generation who is going to do a report on the same topic.  There is not much ppicture or design in Jason's report.  However, just by simply reading his report, I have gained more information and ideas that other people have about music and driving.

Comparison to Other Reports

Every report that I saw was excellent.  But they all reports have their uniqueness in some ways.  Jason' report was unique un a way that is very simple yet it is very informative and precise.  Jason's report is one of the many excellent reports I have read by exploring the past generations.

Report 3: Being a Driving Buddy, Not a Backseat Driver

by Carlene Yee   Psychology 409b/459  G10

Reason for Carlene's Report

I was interested in how people would react if they were to be a driving buddy.  I also thought that this topic would be a good one because I wanted to see the reaction of the people who agreed to participate in being a driving buddy.  I also just wanted to know the ideas that Carlene used in doing this report.

Steps That Lead Me To Carlene's Report

I was exploring the homepages of the past generation and I saw Carlene Yee's name on the G10 list.  I thought she was the daughter of my former co worker at the bank.  I decided to look at her webpage and became eager to know what she had to say about being a driving buddy.

Summary

Carlene's report was on beig a driving buddy.  Carlene started her report like how most of the students started their reports.  She had other students from the past generations define what being a driving buddy is and then she stated her own definitions as well.  Carlene and the other two students that she found from past generation defined driving buddy as someone who is a passenger in a vehicle who makes suggestions to the driver on how to improve.  Carlene next described her experience at the time she was doing an experiment and she had to be a driving buddy of one of her friends.  She then when on and recommend that, in doing these experiment, one should be careful not to do it with either their parents or somebody who taught them how to drive because all that person is goin to get is insults from them.  Carlene also mentioned the reasons on why she did this report.  One of her reasons was because it sounded fun and the other is the curiousity if the driving buddy really help people.  At the end, Carlenesuggested in doing this kind of experiment, one should remain calm and supportive and not stressed out.

My Reaction

I thought that Carlene did an exceptional job in doing her report.  She made every effort to find out if being a driving buddy really works by asking her friend to do the driving buddy experiment with her knowing the otcome or not so good response that she might get from her friend.  Carlene's report, just like everybody else was straight to the point and precise.  I also enjoyed the simplicity that I saw on Carlene's report.  The report looked simple and not much in colors but it is very informative and full of knowledge about the topic.

Comparison To Other Reports

I thought that Carlene or anybody who did a report on the same topic did an exceptional and challenging job.  There's not much to be seen when it comes to design and colors but if a person is looking for some informationabout beng a driving buddy, these would one of the best place to look at.  I think that this report could be used by others as reference for their report that deals with driving.

REPORT 4: How Do Drivers Communicate:

                       Is It A Universal Language?

by Irene Lau  G8

Reason For Irene's Report

It seemed like Irene had a lot of informations to share about her topic.  Irene and I went to the same high school together.  Irene was also in my Psychology 371 class last spring.  I was interested to seeor read her opinions about her topic and also her view in what others say about how drivers communicate.

Steps That Lead Me To Irene's Report

Similar to the steps on how I found the other three reports.  I ws explorinf through the homepages of the past generations and when I explored the homepage of G8 psychology 459 class, I saw her name and I thought that it deserves to be looked at.

Summary

Irene's report started with her own definition of communication.  According to her, communication is social skill that we learned while we were growing up.  Furhtermore, Irene lso stated that as we grow older, communication gets harder and harder.Irene then discussed other students' ideas of communication by examining their reports.  According to the other students' report that Irene examined, one part of how we communicate is by the gestures that we use whoch can be misinterpreted by others.  Irene also shared the resources that she got on the netun her report of communication.  One of the sites she found was about how people from different cultures misunderstood each other by the way communicate.Irene also shared a report that she found on the CSS Engine and Site Indexes about Michelle Alonzo.  Irene also shared the database that she found where the topic of how drivers communicate are further discussed and how drivers fom the other culture are discussed as well  Finally, Irene ended her report by expressing her feelings while she was doing the report and the information that she gained from doing this report.

My Reaction

Irene did an excellent job on her  report.  She was very informative and precise where she explained in detail everything that she did and how she found all of her resources.  Her report was very organized, neat and easy to understand.  I do agree on what she said that communications get harder and harder as we grow older because of the fact that I can experience it on my everyday existence on this planet.  It seems that a lot of things you do can easily be misunderstood if you're not careful to do it.  I also have enjoyed looking at the pictures and designs that she have on this report.  Overall, I think Irene's report was very beautiful and very informative.

Comparison To Other Reports

Irenes report was the best I have seen in her generation.  All her peers did a good job on their reports as well but I felt that none of the other reports came to being close when it comes to giving information.  Irene's report was very informative and neatly organized.  This report coould be useful to future generations in doing some of their reports as well.

Epilogue

In mining the generational curriculum, I have learbed the views of ohter students from the past about certain topics dealing with driving and the road.  I enjoyed doing these activity because I have learned that no matter what we do on the road we should all be considerate if other drivers who are in the road.  Mining the generational curriculum gave me an idea on how to do my reports and how I could look for resources for my report.  I also enjoyed looking at the different sites and their designs and the images that were on there.

Suggestion for Future Generation

As always, it is a good idea to start early in doing these report.  I feel that a person can do an excellent job if they do this report or any other report for the fact that they can have the opportunity to make changes and improve their report.  Procrastination or doing it on the last minute never work because nobody can do an excellent job in a hurry.  So remember to jsut take advantage of doing all of the assigned task early and never do it on the last minute.  Lastly, have fun doing it and never take it as an obligation you have to do to get a good grade but think of it as a game or a challenge that can be helpful to you and to others in the future.
