Work Place Violence
Do you know what kind of work place violence goes on right under your nose? Not many people do, so may be in the few links that I will present to you, you will be able to learn a few tips of the trade, on how to familiarize yourself with the different work place violence's that go on around you,and also how to protect yourself from those violence's.
Work place violence has emerged as an important safety and health issue in today's work place. It's most extreme form, homicide, is the second leading cause of fatal occupational injury in the United States (www.ohsa.gov).  This web site gives averages and percentages of the most fatal to the most common type of work place violence that occurs in the United States.  The most common or the most known type of work place violence is that of a simple assault, that ranges from rapes to sexual assault, from someone that you may know at your work place.  According to the NCVS, retail sales workers are the most numerous victims of work place violence. The second leading work place violence that ends up in death is homicides. Risk factors are also given to let workers know what types of RISK FACTORS may increase workers chances of seeing or experiencing work place violence, here are a few:
-Working alone or in small numbers
-Working late at night or during early morning hours
  http://www.osha.gov/oshinfo/priorities/violence.html

RISK FACTORS/PREVENTION IN WORK PLACE VIOLENCE
Some of the risk factors that are mentioned in work place violence training may seem simple and noticeable.  Some of the risk factors that people may think they know range from the mere handling of money with another person or contact with a customer or co-workers.  Physical separation from the work place could also decrease a workers chance of being violated in ways that they would rather not experience. http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/violrisk.html.

WORK PLACE VIOLENCE TRAINING
Work place training in violence should be implemented in every work place setting, so that it will ensure that the employees will have a sense of being able to handle a certain type of  violent situations that may arise in a working environment. There are many classes that people can take in order for them to be aware of certain violent situations.  This link entails the warning signs of violent situations, how to handle or  confront those situations prevention issues, and work place issues. It also gives the employees or the readers an idea of how to bring prevention classes to their office  http://www.members.aol.com/endwpv/eworg.html.

WORKPLACE VIOLENCE ON WOMEN
Work place violence happens whether people would like to recognize it or not.  This link is only an abstract of the finds that researchers have made on violence on women in in the work place. This link gives women facts and statistics on the incidents of violence on women in the work place.  According to this link women have reported more problems with depression and anxiety when violated by a man.

Traveling Rage
Traveling can be a bit of hassle at times, it can also become very annoying and spiteful.  So, this comes to the question of, have any of you people out there experienced any form of traveling rage?  Have any of you heard of TRD?  Well, if you have not you will not be among the first.  TRD stands for Travel Rage Disorder.  This type of TRD classification was developed by the Travel Rage Institute.  TRD classifies  many types of travels people do on a everyday basis into categories.  Such like that of Air Rage, Hotel Rage, Cab Rage and Restaurant Rage.  Hotel Rage is a new found type of traveling rage.   This site gives brief descriptions on the different types of TRD.
  http://www.ticked.com/errtravel/2000/errinstitute.htm.

AIR RAGE
Air rage is part of the term TRD (Travel Rage Disorder) according to theTravel Rage institute.  Dr. Leon James, Ph.D. and Diane Nahl, Ph.D., described air rage to be just like that of road rage which is "the inability to cope with the challenges of congested traffic." Dr. James and Dr. Nahl both agree that most travelers do not realize that they have Air Rage. This is because it is part of the feeling that goes along with the everyday travel stresses. They also include prevention strategies that the airlines and passengers could do in order to help themselves deal with air rage.  Dr. James and Dr. Nahl, gives tips and case samples of how people learned to deal with there air rage  http://www.aloha.net/~dyc/airrage.html.

PROTECTING THE TRAVELERS etc.
Another Contribution to Travel Rage that occurs in the air, are those Disruptive Passengers. The International Conference on Disruptive Airline Passengers is part of an on going effort to protect the people in the air.  These people that are being protect in the air while traveling are the traveling public, flight attendants, and pilots from those passengers who may contribute to the violence that occurs on commercial aircraft carriers.  According to the International Conference on Disruptive Passengers, they give testimonies and News releases about the types of rage incidents that occurs in the air. The International Conference on Disruptive Airline passengers also says that the number of incidents that occur in the air are not reported.  This conference is urging the support for airlines, law enforcement, prosecutors and judges, make tougher prosecutions and sentencing for those disruptive passengers.  With help of these organizations and people, they think that this can help reduce the amount of violence that occurs in the air.  This could also protect those innocent bystanders  https://alpa.org/internet/safety/recap1.htm .

Sky rage is another term for air rage.  The Sky rage Foundation is a program that is trying to reduce the amount of in-flight disruptions that occur in the air.  Their main goal and key issue is SAFETY.  You could only imagine that all travelers young and old, would want that feeling of SAFETY in the air.  The Sky rage Foundations discusses, and suggest opinions from themselves and others, for possible solutions for the amount and type ofsky rage that occurs to many passengers.  The Sky rage Foundation is concerned with Addressing the Problem of Sky rage, and Jurisdiction which are guidelines on the questions of authority that need to be formulated when dealing with this type of rage.  This foundation is also concerned with Prosecution, enforcement, the amount of alcohol consumption that can be  consumed  when  on a flight and also information on the type of consequences that could happen to violators in the air http://www.skyrage.org/goalspage.html.

TAXI RAGE
 ADMITTING FAILURE
It is as if the African Society has indured much violence on the taxi drivers and the companies that they work for.  The article "Police Admit  failure to curb taxi violence," by Mluleki George, brings up the issues of police officers not doing their job in reporting or protecting those taxi drivers against violent issues. A quote was given by the Senior Superintendent Vince Harris saying: "We must realize that the taxi industry is here to stay and violence and conflict will always be part of the lives of every South African citizen, despite new measures that have been implemented."
The author of this article pointed out that the African Public does not have to live with this type of violence especially those passengers that are in the middle of the gunfire among taxi drivers and the proposed violator.  Whether it be another taxi driver.  He also talks about how the government needs to take more concern and action, to protect those that may stand in harms way of taxi cab violence.  http://www.dispatch.co.za/1999/09/22/southafrica/FAILURE.HTM

Thirty-Five a husband and a father of four dead, by a gun shot while driving his taxi cab. Ivan Alava was one of many immigrant taxi cab drivers that was trying to make it a lot more safer for those other taxi drivers to feel safe out on the road.  He did not only form a group of support, but he and many other taxi drivers bonded together and staged a walk-out.  There are notthat much people that take taxi drivers serious, and that they also lead a dangerous live.  What is more dangerous then driving in Newark at the late of nights and early in the morning. "A Death in the family," is an article that talks about one of many taxi drivers that died at the line of duty.  Yes, that sound like a military term but, Ivan was working as taxi driver, that was his duty in order to keep his family afloat.  Ivan sounds like a very remarkable middle age man, with many asperations.  Read on to find more out about his life as an immigrant and a taxi driver.

RACISM AS BEING PART OF RAGE (Against Taxi Cab Drivers)
It is very surprising how some countries around the world do not accept foreigners as passengers in their taxi cab.  This is an article or web story is more of a racism type of issue, but yet it could still bring on some rage or violent feelings toward passengers of foreign taxi cab drivers.  Racism is part of rage, it is dumfounded that some countries have to follow these types of policies.  This particular type of rage or violence takes place in Germany.  The German government passed a law or a policy that all taxi cab drivers have to abide by.  I choose this article because it gives an example of racism, that then turns into rage.  A qoute that came from this article "It's the same the whole world over," by a taxi driver states that "What happens is that we are being officially punished when we drive foreigners.  And none of us wants to be convicted for that."  This is on another spectrum of rage against or toward taxi drivers. http://www.ncadc.demon.co.uk/letters/news9/grrm.html

LEGAL FRAMEWORK TO STOP RAGE AGAINST TAXI DRIVERS
Violence on taxi drivers is associated with work place violence and road rage as well as travel rage.  It is interesting how some of these rages go on almost everyday, under people's noses, and many of these people get badly injured or die. Taxi driver's take the chance everyday when they pick someone up, on whether they will be a victim of rage or not.  Taxi cab drivers are among many victims that get gun downed by there passengers.  This media report is of incidents that occurred in other countries. The reports that Eastern Cape government reported of violence on taxi drivers was, that this type of harm has been increasing in Umtata.  It also states that the Umtata government is insuring the public that this type of violence will not be taken lightly, that they will do everything in their power to punish those who inflict harm on those innocent taxi drivers. An Act has been passed (The Passenger Transportation 'interim provisions' act) that will set a legal framework, to make sure that violence on taxi drivers is a thing of the past. http://www.ecprov.gov.za/speeches/premier/2000/taxiviolence.htm .

Taxi cab drivers do fall under many categories of rage, just like how itstated above.  It falls under travel rage, road rage and work place violence.  So, please keep in mindthat violence is out there, but yet there are ways that you can protect yourself.  Because we should not haveto live in a world of violence.

RAGE AGAINST THE COPS
Rage against the cops or cop rage against someone else happens.  One would think that the police would be out
there protecting the citizens and foreigners of the world.  But, the opposite could and is happening.  One could never
know if a cop in their hometown will rage against them or someone else in the community. It's a typical
stereotype that people could learn on the television that cops are not suppose to showemotion.  But, what
happens when this particular cop cannot control his or her emotions and turns his or her frustration and anger
out on a co-worker or a citizen on the street?  How are we to protect ourselves.  Yet, on the other spectrum there
are the best of cops out there protecting our well-being and making the streets a better place for all to live in.  In the
next few section I will introduce you to some aspects of rage against the cops.

THINGS NOT TO SAY TO A COP
Somethings that people say you should not say to cops according to this website:
                *    "I was going to be a cop, but I decided to finish high school first"
                *    "I can't reach my license unless you hold my beer"
                *    "Did I see you get your butt kicked on cops"
These are just a few sayings that people say you should never say to a cop or cops.  Some of these sayings seems like they could cause no harm or could not cause offense to a cop.  But, who knows what cops will do.  The smallest of sayings or in sabordination can put someone up in handcuffs and in the back of a cop car.  http://www.maxpages.com/klingel/Cop_Killers

THE DEALTH PENALTY (KILLING A POLICE OFFICER)
Cop killers and the death penalty have been under debate.  The debate on whether to inforce the death penalty on an individual who killed a young police in New Yorker has been put into effect.  This means that if anyone under the law kills a police office in the line of duty, the should be punished with the death penalty.  This type of punishment can be debated among many people across the world. In this particular case of a young police officer dying "it cried out" for the use of the dealth penalty. Clark Staten, the editor of the "Cop killer and Death Penalty" writes,"One involves the deterrence effect of sure, rapid, and sever punishment for those that would assault, batter, or kill police officers, paramedics or firefighters."  The reason that Clark Staten puts forth this view, is to protect the society from further harm of those people that are doing their civil duty in protecting their society. http://www.emergency.com/crmpnlty.htm

In April of 1998, the current law in California stated that any convicted cop killer can remain time, voting would be the best bet in changing the law against convicted cop killers.  It is also stated that the current law for second-degree murder of a cop, has a consequence with as few as 10 years in prison for killing a cop.  With the possibility of rehabilitation of earning work credits while portraying good conduct while in prison.  What does that say for the law. People do not want convicted cop killers out on the streets rehabilitated or not.  http://cwire.com/FYI/Justice/cop.killers.html

CONCLUSION

Rage and violence like what you have seen above take many shapes and forms, from that of Work
Place Violence, Travel Rage which includes that of Air Rage and Taxi Cab Rage.  The last type of rage that was
mentioned was Rage against the cop.  Rage, violence, assault, anger and aggression can and sometimes will
lead to death of an innocent bystander or the person commiting a violent act.  I am hoping that
many of you readers and learners out there learned a few things about
rage.  I know that the developement of this paper touched many soft spots in
my heart.  Raging and then learning, from what could happen to violators and victims
of violence can amke this world a better place to live in. The law needs to be adjusted in order to protect the public and stricter laws can also insure the safety of the public.
