Topics from the Rothe Book on
How Drivers Communicate

I have been skimming through the Rothe Textbook and I couldn't really find something that talks about communication amongst drivers. But, I found something about communication that can probably be connected to How Drivers Communicate or maybe not. This is the closest one I could associate the topic of Driving and Communication. On pages 154 to 157, Chapter 8 of Challenging the Old Order by J. Peter Rothe, the topic of Risk Communication was discussed. He defined Risk Communication as "any purposeful exhange of information about health or environmental risks between interested parties."

I believe that how drivers communicate can also fall in this concept of risk communication because there's a purpose why we communicate with other drivers on the road. It's a way of telling others that we plan to take this certain action, so get ready for it. If we don't do that, we're going to be at risk and not only we have to worry about our health if something happens to us, but also whatever structure we hit on the road, as well as the other car. I think, that's about defined risk communication. I feel like that's the closest connection I could think of between how drivers communicate and risk communication. In this chapter, the four types of Risk Communication Problems and A model of Risk Communication Flows were also discussed. So, if you're interested to find out more about Risk Communication, just go to those pages and you'll find the column.
