This cartoon is features dogs portrying humans, they act, talk, and walk like human cartoons. The scene I captured is about two minutes long. It contains PJ's father Pete driving like a maniac. Pete is trying to catch up to his son and PJ's best friend, Max. The two children are purposely running away from Pj's father because they don't want PJ to get grounded for life for bringing home a bad grade in math. So the plan was to do all the things he ever wanted to do before the grades come in the mail later that afternoon. The father thinks PJ is dying so he is trying to catch up to him to give him the loving care he never gave his son before. But, In order for Pete to catch up to them, he does some crazy driving stunts which shouldn't be repeated by anyone.
Description of Bad Driving:
He is speeding on public roads.
He is weaving in and out of cars.
He speeds up and down hills, flying over them.
He takes a sharp turn and loses control of his car and runs onto a fire hydrant.
He drives under a huge truck which takes the top off of his car-he practically has no car left and still able to drive.
Finally he runs into a light pole and goes flying into a wall.
Influence Others?:
Since this is shown on a childrens television station-Disney, I know many children watch this program and may get the conception that this kind of thing is funny and exciting. They may not understand the realities of what is actually happening and how dangerous this scene really is. Many other innocent people could have gotten hurt, especially Pete. But if you notice in any cartoon, nobody ever gets hurt. I'm sure the writers of this show know kids enjoy these cartoons-that's why they keep writing them, but sometimes they have to realize what kind of bad examples they are putting out to these chidren. Maybe sometime in the near future they can incoorporate some good examples also, this may not be so exciting, but it may save some lives.
Influence Me?:
I haven't been able to watch to many cartoon's recently, but I do remember watching these cartoons, thinking how cute and exciting they were. I also remember playing with my brother and sister pretend driving. We would pretend to press on the gas real hard, to make us go faster and step on the breaks so we screech to a halt. Our minds could go wild, we thought it was so easy. But, I also remember trying to drive for the first time, I must admit it wasn't as easy as I thought. Infact, it was really hard and kind of scary! So, I can see how these shows can be influencing to young children, they make driving seem so easy and harmless. When in reality driving is very dangerous and can be a deadly weapon.
