Argument type 3 :
is another kind of abstract pattern I found. This happens when a person asks a question, answers his or her own question. Then continues to talk and asks another question. (Like line 63)
C) The analysis of sequence
Since there is a large number of people at the dinner table talking, the conversation does not flow in a specific way. There are times when a person cuts in a conversation just to express his or her feelings. There are times however when talkers take turns talking and listening. When a person is talking we sometimes acknowledge that we are listening to them by looking at them and a simple nod of the head or a simple utterance. There also existed a lot of backtracking or returning to a prior topic. This does not seem to interrupt the flow of the conversation.
D) The analysis of relationship
1) Tabulate the role types:
A) Paul: Always playing and talking in the background, cuts in frequently.
Lance: Quiet does not talk much.
Mich: Always adds in things on the topics.
Greg: Always asking questions and listens a lot to what people have to say.
Bea: Always adds in to explain better what Rich is talking about.
Rich: Always talking and explaining what he has to say, he is the. main speaker of the group
2) Pair types:
Always asking questions to Rich (Paul-Greg).
Always backing up the topic Rich was talking about (Mich-Bea).
3) An exchange, it development, and end:
(Transcript lines 93 to 102)
The person who starts off this argument is Rich. He is telling that you need a degree to get a good job, that for maybe in the future to get into the services you going need a degree. It implies that Rich's intentions are to make his kids go to college and graduate. Everyone just sits down and listens to what Rich has to say. They cannot disagree with him because it is very likely that it will happen. Mich, Bea and Greg all nodded their heads in agreement. Rich ends the conversation by saying get a degree and then you can do whatever you want.
4) We all seem to relate better with people who are much like ourselves.
People who are much like each other have an easier time to communicate with each other because they can talk to each other in their regular way of talking and you don't have to worry too much about the other person taking the subject another way. Your relationship with other people is very important in your life and future because it shows them what kind of person you are.
E) The analysis of the setting
1) Since everyone has his own ideas and thinks different from other people so the physical setting conditions and utterances are not much regular and predictable.
2) Many people remember certain things at or when they are at a similar event.
They remember something someone said not by the time, but where the person said it at. This points out the historical position of speech.
3) It is noticed that people tend to talk more and ask more questions when the topic being talked about is of interest to them. Like lines numbers 28-34.
Paul talks a lot because it is for his fishes that Greg bought the fishfood.
4) The things that you talk about are all determined by the physical, historical and ambient content of the setting.
It is also noticed that talk comes easier when you are around someone you know and when you are in a familiar setting.
5) There are many grammatical errors in the conversation and what is said is not usually in complete sentences.
This is against the general assumption that we taIk the same as we write.

B. MICRODESCRIPTIONS OF SENSORY OBSERVATIONS
(i) Aches and Pains
"I am getting up from my bed. I just had a good rest. I came home from playing football and fell asleep at home. I feel all these different aches and pains all over my body. On my left forearm there is a sharp pain like someone sticking something into my arm. My neck is also very sore when I move it from left to right, the pain is cramped and sharp. The ache in my thighs are so painful that I don't think I'll be able to walk on them. The pain on my foot is the strongest, when I was running with the ball I fell in a hole with a water sprinkler in it, there is a big bruise around it."
(ii) Stretching and Exercises
"I go to my friend house where there is a weight set which we use very often to exercise with. First, we do a little calisthenics to get our blood flowing and to get warmed up. Then we lift the weights and do more calisthenics to cool down with. We run at least a mile. I see my friends admiring their bodies. They are trying to showoff to other people."
(iii) Blushing
"I am in the doctor's office waiting for my name to be called. As I'm about to sit down my brother comes and pushes me down into the seat. At that moment the seams on my pants rip. My face starts to feel the warm of my blood as everyone looks over at me to see what had happened. As people began to laugh my head felt like it was about to explode from the heat of my blood. I get up very slowly and with a frozen smile I leave the room with short but very quick steps."
(iv) Retinal Sensation and Etc.
"I was on the beach at Ala Moana, when this girl came walking by with the most unbelievable figure a person could imagine. She was wearing one of those string bikinis that don't cover much. She had one of those golden tans that people adore. My eyes felt like they are about to fall out. The linings of my eye has one of those feelings that you hardly get. My eyes were tingling. It felt like I just saw an angel fly past."
(v) Appetite and Cooking
"I had just come home from a long day at the beach surfing. As I come into the house I smell this delicious aroma in the air. It was today's dinner on the stove. From the smell my mouth began to water and my stomach began to turn around. I couldn' wait to eat. The wait was 15 minutes but it seemed like hours. My stomach was growling and my mouth drooled."
(vi) Energy Level
"I woke up from bed with the feel that God had gave me all the energy in the world. I felt so speeded up that I could not stand still, I had to move around. I started to do the chores around the house and after that I still felt like I was loaded up with energy."
(vii) Smells and Odors
"I came home one day and smelled this horrible smell. It smelled as if something had died and decayed. I walked around taking sniffs all around the place. I finally figured that it came from some- where in the outside bathroom. I never knew that there were so many different kinds of smells in the air, I only noticed them when I was trying to figure out where the smell came from. My father was taking off the panels off the bathroom wall, when there it was kittens had died between the panels. The mother must have gave birth to them and they couldn't get out of there.
