Subject:Re: Chaos Gate sales picking up......
Date:Sun, 07 Mar 1999 22:51:07 GMT
Some games seem to do that but that's a pretty good strategy overall. The
number of good games coming out means I can wait until some games hit the
bargain bin before purchase. I'm not a big 40K fan but Chaos Gate has made me
think about picking up some of the miniatures. As far as computer gaming it is
definitely the biggest pleasant surprise I've had in a while. It would
really be nice if they continued the game and added some of the other races.
With the aggressive AI it would seem to be easy to add Orks or Genestealers
without much code change. [ -EJL ]

When
I was in high school, I was a computer games addict. I liked to play RPG,
Action and Simulation games. I wasted all of my money that my parents gave to
me for breakfast and lunch. Gradually, I also learned the strategy how to buy
computer games. The first strategy was like Joe said. Let games hit the bargain
bin before purchased. The second strategy was that I asked my classmates to buy
a game together. It meant that we shared the game.

Subject: Re: 300A->450 slower than IP 450?
Date:Sun, 07 Mar 1999 19:47:05 GMT
Hello group....oc'd my celery 300a to 450 and was just wondering what IP it is
currently comparable to since i wasnt able to find any comparison charts onthe
web...under sandra it outperforms the PII 400 system with those mflops and the
other benchmark but who knows what that stands for. also will theoc'd 450 chip
on a 100 mhz bus with pc100 ram and a voodoo2 8m let me get the max fps
possible out of my 3dfx card? or will i get even more frames bytrying for 504?
thnx guys
Heh...same setup I have...Well it depends...if you play quake, it will max out
somewhere around 150fps (not much point in worrying about framerates there)
butif you're playing Quake2, you'll need to overclock your Voodoo2 to keep up
with your Celeron...I get 100fps depending on various settings (demo1 of
course)and have my V2 overclocked to 105mhz (you need a heatsink/fan on it to
run at that speed) even more intense programs like Unreal tend to go the other
way I think...taking more CPU time than V2 time..so they would get faster if
you ran it at 504 (ifpossible)

CPU
is like a soul of a computer. It completely affect the speed of a
computer. Nowadays, there are many different brand names and models in the
market. Intel, AMD and Cyrix are the major CPU producers for personal
computers. According to occupy the PC market, each of those company develop and
produce several different model of CPU to the PC market. It is really hard for
us to determine which model is better and which model is the fastest. Like
Intel, they have the Pentium II and celeron CPU in the PC market.
Theoretically,
celeron is slower than Pentium II because of the L2 cache. People try to use
different ways to test and compare the speed of these two models. The price of
the Pentium II is double the price of celeron at the same speed. (e.g. Pentium
333 > Celeron 333) But the speed of Celeron closes to Pentium II. That's why
some people are willing to buy Celeron instead of Pentium II. I think
everyone likes to buy a good quality but not expensive stuff.

Subject: SECRET AMD PLANS
Date:Wed, 3 Mar 1999 15:39:45 -0600
Yes, AMD has a secret up their sleeves, and yes, I hope that idiot at AMD who
reads all these posts as security finds out I posted this.
Here's the clip:
"AMD will shift the manufacturing process of the K6-III from 0.25 micron
to 0.18 micron in the second half of 1999, but has not yet decided whether to
perform that miracle on the K6-2, as yet. The physical limit of the K6-III's
0.25 frequency is 50MHz and they already have 550MHz running on this process
using a simulator. AMD will ship its mobile K6-III in the first half of this
year but do not have a plan to reduce the consumption power, which will be 2.4
volts. Meanwhile, other Asian reports say AMD will produce a ball grid array
(BGA) package later this year and will beef up its production facilities at its
lab in Thailand."

Absolutely,
a normal computer user would not try to do research to see the constructions of
his computer's CPU. But some computer enthusuasts like to do that. They
would like to know everything about computers. They even know the planning of
AMD and the technical things about the future AMD's CPU. I don't think every
computer user is interested in these things. After those enthusasts discovered
something, they would like to share those information with each other or even
discuss with them for a whole they. Some people think that those guys'
behaviors are kind of extreme.

If they can call it "Great Britain" we sure as hell can call it the
"World Series."
[O'Reilly Enright]
Silly man. The "Great" part is a geographical term and has to with
the fact that it is bigger than the other one, i.e. Brittany in France. It's
easier to see in French:- Bretagne, Grande Bretagne. I suppose in a way it's
like those mountains thay have in the states, the grand tetons. That's (apart
from the spelling) the French for big nipples.
Here we'd probably say big tit. Or Mount Titlis in Europe, apart from the spelling
it's American for no tits. Anyway, big tit, when was the last time Cuba played
in the "world" series? Or Nicaragua? Or Vietnam? Not sure about these
three, tit less, but their areas have been represented, the Dominican Republic
once made it to the finals. Also, Asian teams from Korea, China, Japan, and the
Phillipines have also participated quite successfully.
We all know pretty well what world series these guys play in. -- Peter

I
like to play soccer when I was 5 or 6 years old. I love soccer very much.
Actually, soccer is the most favorite sport in the world. Everyone has his or
her favor team. People like to argue which team is the best. The would use
different methods to prove their points like statistic. I remember that one of
my friends, he likes French very much. No matter how we belittled French, he
would say something to against our points. Eventually, French won the World Cup
last summer. We had nothing to say in front of the T.V. but he was
yelling and jumping over 5 minutes and generalized that all other countries
were bad. It really made us angry and almost fighted with him because of
his prejudice.

chose this Newsgroup because I am Jackie Chan's fan too. When I was in High
school, I had many favor movie stars or singers but I would not act crazy as
those girls to our favor stars or singers. For instance, girls like to buy many
stuffs with those stars or singers' pictures or signatures. Girls like to talk
to each other about those stars unstoppable. Boys seldom do these things. Until
now, I still have this concept. Some of my female friends say that I am
stereotype.

Newsgroups
are another media to let people gather together. People have more chances to
deal with different cultures of people to share their emotions, knowledge or
thoughts. Sometimes, some people would argue with others, some people would
fall in love with others. I think it is another way to let us to relax our
anxiety, depression, happiness or anger to another world.
In the world of newsgroup, we don't have to talk to each other face to face. We
ca hide out true identities. Personally, I would like to tell my secrets to my
net friends rather than good friends because they can't go to tell some
people whom I know. Besides, I can also seek supporter from the newsgroups. If
I like certain things, then I go to certain newsgroups. I will have thousand of
supporters. If I want to know something special, I can also go to newsgroups to
seek helps.
Newsgroups make people have more places and methods to relax and get supports.
In our daily lives, we have to deal with too many people and problems. The
worst thing is that we cannot ignore those people and problems. But in the
world of newsgroup, we can do everything we like. We have right to ignore
whom we don't like to talk to. We can control something that we cannot control
in our real lives.
