"Cyber"means computer. So there for, cyberspace is a place created by a
network of computers. Cyber-psychology would be the study of people in
cyberspace. What would one study? Well, because of the nature cyberspace, a
person can change things about themselves. This gives a person several
different personalities that they can try out. This is what can be studied. This is called Identity
flexitiy.
The main principles behind cyber-psychology areto study the affect that a
computer has on the user, because of what was mentioned before about how
a person can chance thier personality when they are online. Cognitive
is what a person thinks about and how they think, because there is so much
information about any subject online it provides a different type of
thinking opportunity. The last is sensory, the way that the web is setup
right now there really is not much sensory input, as there is cogonitive.
I can not think a of a person that would not be interested in this. We
all want to know that makes us tick, and with the growth of the web, people
are going to want to know why people do what they do online. Even the generations that did not gowup
with computers are learning about the web and eventualy they will want to know about cyber-psychology.
The direction that cyber-psychology is to understand what the relationship is
between cyberspace and the mind. As we venture into a new age, where we raise
a generation "on-line" it will become importaint to know that the effects are.
The topics that are covered for the most parts are things like vertual
reality and the significance of clicking. These are things that are
dealt with on a daily bases. the Affective, cognative, and sensory are the basses of the topics.
Virtual reality is reality that above real. It is created by clicking.
Moving from one page to another creates an enviroment and a sense of
movement in space. This give a sense of an actual place, but it is all in the mind or in the computer.
It is not like going to Dysneyland where things can be felt with the hands this is felt with the
mind.
The mind helps to create cyberspace or just to understand it. Without the
mind it would be impossable to get what cyberspace is. Cyberspace is
place free of the boundies that are persent in the real world, and it helps
the mind to be creative.
People that spend a long time on the computer seem to develop a type of
religion where things that are done all the time are conserned. When
someone clicks on a link it is taking them to another place. Just like
religion takes the soul to another place the link does the same thing.
Another way to look at this is the mind is spirtual. The mind is also the person and so when the
person click and connects with another place or with a person through what they have put up on the web
then they have done samothing spirtual.
