Phase One

Everyone has times in their life when things just don't seem to work. Well, that was me and the computer the frist two weeks of this class. I use to pride myself on being some what computer savvy, this class changed that. I was setting in front of the computer thinking that I have to be the only one that dosen't get it(what ever "it" was. I was happy when I went to class and found out I was not the only one.) Have you ever seen that mouse pad that says "Bang Head Here" I wanted one of those. No I take that back I need one of those. Like some picked you up from where ever you were and dumped you in the middle of space, Cyber-sapce that is, and you have to find your way out kind of like going on one of those wilderness servival weekends. This seems to be for the whole samester.

Here is what past generations thought of phase one

"I felt very lost."
Shane Akagi
"Surfing on the internet has been very challenging for me. I have found it very interesting" Claudia Kaneshiro
"so I tried to compensate by taking accurate notes...Who was I trying to fool? As hard as I did try, I couldn't understand my notes either, because they were little scribbles.. you know, the kind that happens when it's a hot sticky you fall asleep while you write?" Kristie Hoe

Phase TwoStressed is the word

After the first signs of total and utter terror wore off, I was left with stress. Some of which I have to say was self induce(from not working on the reports and just surfing around the net) I did find a lot of cute icons, which I found out were easy to put in my page. They become a fast way to see that your work done. If you are looking for icons here are some places you can try , just don't spend to long there.
Icon's I've found, Where I located 90% of the icons. and the last is A+ Art As for the the backgrounds go to THE BACKGROUND SAMPLERWhen I actually sat down to do some work I found that it was hard to keep my mind on what I should be doing. I keeped think that there was other things that I should be(or would like to) be doing then trying to figure out how to do my reports.

Here is what past generations thought of phase two.

" Once one task was done (or was firmly begun--I wasn't too picky at the time), there was an enthusiasm for the others" Lori Morita
"I was pretty confident that I could accomplish this week's task with no trouble, and I assumed it would be smooth sailing all the way. I was wrong; the trouble was just beginning!" Braden Kato
"Icons, Icons, Icons, Icons, Everywhere is Icons!" Jason Tubudio
"I felt somewhat stressed, especially at the start of my search. I found a lot of my stress to be alleviated upon more time and practice with The Webcrawler." Cherish Higani
"I found it quite difficult to stick to only one search engine." Chong Yun

Phase Three Finally!!!!!!!

Now I think that I have got it!! I was so happy when the day came that I could sit down in the lab and just type. It was like all that I went through in the first four weeks of class helped me to understand what I had to do. Once that you have been "lost", "stressed" or both at the same time you understand what it is that you have to do and it seems to come a lot easyer. Now the chalenge that you face is finding the time to do what you have top do. The Computer becomes your best friend and evry minte that you have you need to spend it doing your reports and makeing your homepage better. Don;t think that you don't or can't sleep back into phase two you can it is just easyer to find your way out.

Here is what past generations thought of phase three

"As I follow in the footsteps of the generation one students before me, I am starting to learn a great deal from them as well as on my own."
Aaron Takahashi
"I would feel more safe and prepared being that most of the info present was done by someone who already has done some of it and is still alive." Sheldon Tawata
"Once I was in, the frustration ended" Conrad Moreho
" I decided that if I was to ever learn anything about computers I'd have to hold my breath and dive in. " Donna Handoe

The overall process of learning the Internet. My view!

In the overall process of learning how to use the internet in a cyber-community, i have found it has a lot of ups and downs. I will have to say that it has more ups then downs. Sometimes I though that I would never make it and that the system would eat me alive, I would look at the other people in my community and find out that I was about in the same place that they were. It was also nice that one could learn what to do by what others have done before. One thing that I have to mention is that one a person get into the computer and knows what to do they tend to become addicted take a look at
John Suler's page he has a top ten list on the subject.

My Advice to the future

Just keep trying, you'll get there. I know you think that I have hit my head on the computer one to many times, but I being honest with you. There are time where it would be easyer much easyer just to say "the hell with it, I come back latter" I would like you to know that latter can be pushed to the point where there is no latter, and you will be doing what I am doing now finishing at the last minite. That is when all the stress come in and you feel like your head will blow up.I know that it takes a lot to be in this class(time that is) when Dr. James says nine hours he really means about fifteen/week, at least that is what it feels like to get everything done on time. If you get stuck just take a break and go walk around, give yourself time to think about what you need to do and then it will happen. You do need to make sure that you come back!! :)
Just keep smileing and you'll do fine.
