I chose Beverly's page because she has great stories to
tell about her adventures in Psy 409! Beverly shared an incident where
she pressed the wrong key and ended up in another area in EMACS. This
made me think of a similar experience that I had where I was at home
doing my report 4 through pico and wasn't saving periodically, and then
the worst scenerio you could think of happened. I was all of sudden
kicked off the server and I lost everything I wrote. I was so mad at
myself. From that point on I now do my reports on a word processor, then
I upload it or I do it on pico, but save periodically.
Jason Raad's Home
Page I chose Jason's page because it is filled with problems and
frustrations that I can relate to! Jason said in his first week of
class,"I have had a little experience on computers, nothing came close to
what I was about to experience. The instructions seemed clear. However,
upon my arrival at the clic lab I soon knew that This task was going to
require a lot of hard work and effort." As I read this it made me feel at
ease, knowing that someone else was having similar feelings as me.

Christina Kealoha's
Home Page I chose Christina's page because she has an excellent page
of using ftp and fetch. Christina clearly explains all the problems and
frustrations she went through in learning how to use ftp and fetch. By
reading her frustrations and problems it prevented me from making the same
mistakes!
Ryan Yamauchi's Page I chose
Ryan's page because it was well organized and attractive. Ryan put a lot
his own feelings and thoughts into his weekly reports.
Curtis Nakao's Home Page
I chose Curtis' page because in Week 14, he discusses some fears like,
How to make good html documents, what to do if you deleted the wrong
file. He then gives quick and easy solutions to these fears. I actually
used some of his suggestions, so check it out!!!

My Reaction to Being In a
Cyber-community
What is a Cyber-Community?
Being in a cyber-community is similar to living in your own community
because a community is defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary as being
a "body of people living in the same place under the same laws."
A cyber-community is not a body of people living in the same place, however,
people are linked to the same place by a telephone line, a modem, and a
computer. I guess you could say in a cyber-community people have to abide
by the same laws. Some laws that we all have to follow are to share, help
and respect one another. What I mean by sharing is that whatever information
you publish on your web page, you are willing sharing it with your fellow
cyber-neighbors. And by being a fellow cyber-neighbor, you can act as a
helper if someone has a question or needs help with their web page or
anything.
Lastly, I feel one of the most important rule in a cyber-community is
respect.
Respect can be defined in two ways. First, as a cyber-neighbor, you must
respect others thoughts and feelings. Secondly, in respecting others thoughts
and feelings, you must give credit to others thoughts and feelings if you
are going to use them in your own web pages.
Overall,I think it is great that I am a part of a cyber-community
because the learning and information is endless. There is so much you can
learn from just clicking on to someone's page. Each individual has something
unique to share with everyone who is willing to enter the world of
cyber-space! Another great thing about being in a cyber-community is
that you can actually communicate with someone using your computer. You
no longer have to pay expensive phone bills or waste 32 cents for mailing
a letter.
Defining Cyberspace
Cyberspace defined by Dr.
James as being "like the mind, is not in physical space, but in
virtual space, without extension, distance, or mass." I believe this is
true. The human mind can be filled with endless information, just like in
cyberspace. Cyberspace has no limits. You can go places without leaving
your seat, just like your imagination in your mind. Dr. James also said
that," Cyberspace is the virtual reality created through computers." A
computer is an essential part of being in cyberspace. The computer allows
you to venture into undiscovered territories. You can click on and visit
places and see things that you thought were impossible.
