Online Database Management Issues

The purpose of the WIB was to create a site where people can contribute their own thoughts about these various topics covered by the students. The students were successful if their target audience was solely students of their own class and some of their friends. However, this site was intended to gather feedback from ANYONE in CyberSpace, from across the globe. That seemed to be the biggest problem so far. It is difficult to "spread the word" when you virtually (no pun intended) have nowhere to star t. There were a few contributions, but these were mostly because the students HAD to do it. I guess in today's world, not everyone is comfortable having their personal thoughts displayed on the Web.
Advice for Generation 5 students? Feel free to contribute here. Just kidding. I think a lot of it has to do with the kind of topics chosen. This lack of anonymity also kind of took me by surprise. Maybe more people would be willing to leave contribut ions if it was anonymous. Not many people like the idea of having their names and e-mail addresses displayed like that especially when the database is available to every Tom, Dick, and Harry. Also, ideas on how to get this page out to everyone or at lea st a majority of people in CyberSpace? Maybe having it linked to homepages that generate a curious audience would be a start. But then again, I guess you would have to find that kind of page first. Hmmmm..... Maybe another alternative would be making the WIB site known to relative newsgroups where you know a lot of people subscribe to. That would be a good start. Just find the will and you have a way! Or something like that. Good luck!
