About the Social Psychology WIB

WIB is short for World Ideas Bank. It is essentially a database of human concerns; containing specific topics, unlike a library. In this WIB, a particular topic is given concerning a social issue, and a brief opinion is included. The idea of this WIB is to attract opinions from people throughout the world, concerning the specific topic. These opinions are posted on the page, others read and respond, and so on. As one could see a WIB is supposed to be a site that naturally expands on the response of others. In addition, this site is a useful tool to one who needs to express his or her social experiences. I could also see a site like this one being used in creating solutions and ideas for others.

By looking at the Social Psychology WIB site, one could argue that it was not a successful project. Yes, the sites were brilliantly planned, completed by the students, and they functioned well. The problem lies in the responses from others. Each site contained only a few responses, which was basically the ideas of their friends. The WIB was supposed to be a site with numerous responses.

A Word to G5 Concerning the Continuation of the WIB

It was evident that the Social Psychology WIB was dysfunctional due to the lack of responses. The solution to this problem may be solved with increased advertising. There could be a possibility that no one, besides Generation Three, knew that the site existed. Increased advertising on the Internet may educate more people about this site, and may spark an interest in a few. For example, a good idea would be to enter the WIB into more search engines. This would create more access to the WIB. Another good idea would be to post information about the WIB throughout campus. Orient students about the site. Hopefully it's popularity would expand outside the University of Hawaii by word; hopefully it would expand throughout the world.

Another problem may lie in the topics available on the WIB. People might have disregarded the Social Psychology WIB because they were not interested in the topics. According to some of the students in G3 a particular topic was imposed on them. This might have limited the information and the interest the students provided. I believe that the students themselves might have been able to create topics that appeal to others. In creating their own topics, I also think that the students would have been more motivated in building and advertising their WIB pages.

So there it is, my marvelous solutions. I hope you have better luck than G3.
