ELLE print vs. ELLE online

Last week, I was at Waldens in front of the magazine stand looking for something interesting to read during my lunch break. Dressed in my usual attire of T-shirt and shorts, I wanted to find ideas to help update my wardrobe. I decided on the latest copy of ELLE magazine since on the cover in a beautiful Versace dress was Cindy Crawford.

When I got home and started to look through the magazine, I noticed something peculiar. Where are all the pages with the models in perfectly matching outfits. Did I miss something here? All I found were advertisements and more advertisements.

Don't get me wrong, there were some pages of clothing but not enough for me! Frustrated, I decided to see what ELLE had to offer online. Low and behold an entire site of what I was looking for. This included a trend report where I could find the latest in trends from Europe to New York. Did you know military prints are in this season?

Unlike the print version of the magazine, everything was labeled on the first page and I could chose by clicking onto a link which interested me. There were dozens of beautiful models and dozens more of perfectly matching outfits without the distractions of advertisements. E-zines as well as journals on-line are great to look at and read.

However, they are merely additions to what they offer at the newstands. It is not complete and no one should expect them to be. This also extends to newspapers. What you find online is just a summary of what's in print. Most of the time the newspape rs will ask you to pick up a copy to get the full story.

So remember, it's nice to beable to save a few bucks and view things online. You just have to keep in mind there's more to see than what's on your screen.
