World Ideas Bank

The World Ideas Bank was a project that was worked on by the students in Generation 3 of Cyber Psychology 409. To view a very simple task-flow of the WIB -- click here!!

Purpose of the WIB

The purpose of the WIB was to create a database on the Web which would allow potential visitors to make contributions to various topics set by the "managers" of the WIB. I believe that the students were successful in creating the WIB because they were able to collect data on various topics ranging from daily hassles that drive me crazy to relationship things. As for how successful they were, that's another story because there were problems in collecting the data. As it was stated, Dr. James required that fellow students visit each other's sites and make a contribution to that site. That was a good idea for a test run and to make sure the WIB worked but not many people outside of the class contributed information into their database. If this database were to be used for a formal research the information collected would not be a representative sample because not many people accessed the page.

Possible Solutions

A potential solution that would allow Generation 5 to continue with the WIB project would be to post this as extra credit to other psychology classes. Many times I've been asked to participate in "experiments" or "research" for other graduate psychology students. G5 could visit potential psychology classes and explain to them what the WIB is and how they may make their own contribution and for their participation they would be given a point or two (arranged with the instructor first).
