Since the Web is accesible from practically everywhere with the
right kind of software, the audience can easily access a Web site. This
is much easier than going to a bookstore to buy or go to the library to
borrow the book. Also, if the book is out of
an extremely hard time finding a place to buy the book from. This
problem is eliminated by publishing on the Web.
I have an example of a Website of a company who can put any book
of your own onto a Webpage for all to see.
Yinterpro is an example of one such a company.
Publishing on the Web...
First of all, to publish a book, there are so much complications
involved. First, the book has to be written and sent to an editor to review.
There are so many revisions that need to be made. For this process to occur,
already lots of dollars are to be spent just for the editing itself.
That is not all either.
At this point, the author still does not have a publisher. Again a lengthy
procedure of finding a publisher along with the publishing expenses are even
more dollars added. With publishing on the Web, less money is required to set
up a home page. Also, less tools are needed. At least, the only tool that is
needed is the computer itself. Capabilities...
As for the capabilities, I found one that was really cool. See I am
interested in personality stuff just for fun. I found a cool BioRythm page. It's called
JavaRythm, but I did not anyone would know what that meant. Anyways, you
type
in your birthday, and you get an outlook on how your day is, was and will
be physically, emotionally, and intellectually. Cool, and it's definitely
something to check out!!!
Some info on books on the Web...
Looking for a book on that has been published on electronic
publishing? Here's Fine Press Bookshop
Online. This site lets you see a catalog of books as well as view
certain ones individually.
The computer programmer is on who can program the computer itself.
This person has full complete knowledge of the Internet and similar
programming devices like Java.
The visual designer and user interface designer is the expert of
interactive aspects of the projects.
The editor and writer is an expert at programming using hypertext.
This person also can locate and find things on the Web easily using the
different types of search programs.
The marketer can easily find the best opportunities to do things
and when.
Everyone of these people must work together. In some cases they
must consult with each other so frequently during the making of a single
Web page.
Perhaps the good thing about the Lynx is that there does not seem
to be so much time needed to upload the browser onto the screen. The
Netscape could take a while to upload depending on the page. (d) There
are many personal home pages of different sorts that I have seen. Many
are just informative home pages about the creator and of their interests
and hobbies. Others I have seen to be just primarily about their hobby or
best interest. As for a
personal home page of my own, I would probaly incorporate a little of
both. I would probably want everyone to know about myself as well as
have something on there that would be of common interest to a few
people.
Who's needed to design a Web site?
Communications between members of a Web
publishing team is needed. In order for the site of a Web to be produced
at a smooth and efficient rate, everyne must work together. There are
four categories of skills recommended. They include a computer
programmer, a visual designer and user interface designer, and editor and
a writer, and lastly a marketer.Browsers...all the same?
The sole purpose of a browser is to allow the audience to
look around for places that they might be interested in. Browsers easily
transport the audience to the appropriate places and back again should
they choose to want to go back. Two different types of browsers are the
Netscape 2 or higher browser and the Lynx browser. The Lynx browser is a
text-only browser, so the abilities are much more limited than the
Netscape browser. With graphics, art and animation, the Netscape browser
has much of an easier presentation to the beholder of the Web. Where
information is concerned I looked at a education page of Chaminade college
via the Lynx and also through Netscape. I found that the two contained
almost the same information. The only thing that was different was that
on the Lynx there was supposed to be a campus map. The only information
given was the location of the building using a letter and a number.
Obviously there was supposed to be some kind of map that could not have
been shown on this browser. I thought it was rather difficult to locate
the building without the actual map.The good stuff...
One of my friend's who claims that she took TWO YEARS to learn
what we have to learn in one of our exhausting semesters definitely made
a name for her page. Sandra
Noda's page is awesome. Her page may take a little long to load, but
I think it is worth the wait. My favorite part is her movie review. It
is like a mini-Siskel and Ebert as she calls it. Check it out. She's
really artistic so her layout is really nice.
Another personal home page that I really like is our very own Edward Sugimoto's home page. Okay, let me warn you...I tried to get on his page and there was a bisy signal...can you believe it?!? His Ed-Land page was so popular, well you just have to see it for yourself. The reason I like it is because I am a fan of Bone Thugs and Harmony. Yes...me. Anyways, there are also other links enjoyable to the male eye. Not that I care. Okay??? This was the assignment...right? One of my strongest interests is in psychology-related subjects. One of my main hobbies is handwriting analysis. I do handwriting analysis occasionally and for entertainment purposes only. This would be something I would probably put on my page. As a comments option, I would incorporate any question or inqueries about my analysis. If an audience member is unsure if something they can write and ask me.
