So much to see...
Let's just say I'm pretty confused
already trying to go through generation to generation. That's only
because there's already so much. I enjoyed the Tour Guide that is on the
Instructor's Homepage. It's very useful, only thing is it would probably
need to be updated every semester. So unless there's someone to do that,
that would definitely help. Another solution for that could be to have
the class create a tour guide at the end of each semester so that it would
be kind of maintained. The tour guide was easy to understand. It's good
because it pretty much covers all of the generational curriculum and the
best thing is that no one can get lost using it.
Indexes...you either love 'em or you don't
I did not like the
indexes because they were are just one word topics
that do not really explain what the topic is about. I even saw some that
weren't in alphabetical order. yuch. Anyhow, it's great of you're
looking for something that you need to find in a rush. It helped me.
All you would have to do then is to click the FIND button and type in the
word anyways.
A CGI?
As for the CGI or the Common Gateway Interface, I know UH has
one, and so does certain Websites. What it does is allow for the user to
see just by positioning the mouse cursor over the area that might be of
interest, and the address as to where it will go is shown. I believe
that it is useful, but up until recently I barely even noticed it was
there. It certainly would help some people but not all, just like all the
others.
Maybe all of the above would help. In actuality different
people like and adjust easier to different things.
In Dr. James' Site Information...
for Leon James Home Page Hawaii
site, I saw information on his page
separated into 3 main categories. Each category shows the content as
well as the what the goal of the site was. Although each site is done by
one individual, they all incorporate what they have learned and gained
from the couse into these sites.
As for another of his sites, "Analyzing
Linkage Structure...," a full description of the aspects involved
in allowing this generational curriculum is explained. Also a full
description on how each of these aspects can be used deeper. For
instance, "Hypertext as a Cultural Resource" and " Mining Hypertext as a
Learning Resource" are topics that Dr James includes in this section.
What is unusual is how different this site is as
opposed to other
sites on the World Wide Web. Being a part of latest
generation ...
I saw one major difference between this site and any other site.
The one difference was that is a cybercommunity. This means that everyone
helps everyone. It's like a mini-networking system in itself. Everyone
links to someone who links to someone else. So in
that sense, everyone's
pretty much a part of the community. The assignments also allow students
the opportunity to ask each other about complications or to clear up and
misunderstood matter. It is also an excellent opportunity for classmates
to get to know each other better. Also, if other students find possible
ways for your report to be improved they can suggest it and vice versa.
I myself have found myself to be a part of this cybercommunity. I feel
confident that I can do what I need to do. Even if I fail, I have my
fellow classmates at hand to guide me in the right direction. I have come
a long way in this department. I remember at first feeling apprehensive
and overwhelmed about this class. Although seeing the previous
generations go through the same trials as we. Only I realize that they
had it tougher. They did not have as much instruction materials as we
had. But yet they overcame, and so will I.
