Getting Hold of Cyber-Psychology
Now that I've been able to spend some time surfing the net in an
attempt to enlarge my
understanding of Cyber-Psychology. I'm starting to get a feel for what's out there. As with
everything in life there is good and bad and the net is no exception. I feel however that we must
focus on the good in an effort to exemplify and nurture it, and in the end hopefully this will help
those of you that come after me to learn more effectively. Here follows
some of the GOOD things and pages that I have found and would like to
share with everyone.
I stumbled upon an essay by Storm A.
King That I
found very interesting. I've also seen it floating around in many people's links and pages. I think
this is because his essay is concise as well as progressive and interesting. His sections on the
psychology of what is coming and his quotes also appealed to me. Another page that I found
interesting came from a Black list of Internet
Advertisers that I feel embodies and is a manifestation of where the
future of Cyber-communications is taking us. The information that this page provides, between its list and archive
of lists is the type that allows conscious netizens to make powerful informed decisions about
community minded affairs that affect us all. If only we could get these types of wide spread
checks and balances from the federal government.
I also liked Dr.
Suler's page on cyber-psychology. It is very detailed and perspective
and provides insight on the basic
psychological features of cyberspace as well as
identity management in cyberspace and the unique
roles that there are in cyberspace.
I've also found that amoung the millions of documents on the web our
own Dr. James has some of the most perspective articles on
cyberspace and the mind and many other related topics. I highly
recommend that everybody spend some time reading his reports on
cyberpsychology. you won't be dissapointed and you'll probaly learn a
whole lot. I know I did.
