I utilized www and gopher to find my new links related to traffic psychology. There was so much related topics it was hard to narrow down. It is truly amazing it is to find so much information in sucha a short time. I am so glad I can find information for this assignment without having to go to the library. Upon finding my links, I also found that not only myself, but other students in the class, also had a few of the same links I had. Anyway I plugged in traffic and driving into my searches and came up with these links.............

I also thought that this link would be useful, because, we all know that many of the local residents love to go to Las Vegas and gamble. This link would provide convenient access to car rental information in Las Vegas. Then for those shoppers, you would have time and a car to go shopping at the various outlets. Although many people, like myself do not really like to rent a car and drive in unfamiliar places, will not make much use of this link. I guess I just don't want to risk getting lost, getting, in an accident, and being referred to as a "tourist".

A helpful, from the air traffic report, that provides information on traffic related items, occurring during peak traffic hours. Similar to Captain Erwin, who gives radio brief radio broadcasts, reporting from his helicoter traffic conditions during morning and afternoon peak traffic times. He also gives recommendations to alternate routes if there are any backlogs due to accidents, weather , or construction. This warns drivers ahead of time, the upcoming traffic conditions on their way to their destination.

. If anyone is interested in ITS, you might want to see Dr. Vercruyssen, he is a an expert on gerontology, gerontechnolgy, and ergonomics. He does teach a class PSY 449, if you are interested in elderly persons. The elderly are the fastest growing segment of society, and we are unprepared for them. We must recognize that driving provides independence for the elderly. Although due to age related changes their abilities and reactions do slow, and affect their driving, there is no means of regulatation in determining if a person is capable of driving. Therefore, many elderly persons, are involved in more accidents, second to teens. They utilize mechanisms such as the "speed and accuracy trade off" So next time you are on the road, be on the look out for elderly drivers,a nd be a little bit more cautious. So in the coming years hopefully ITS will provide automobile that will compensate for the age related deterioration of eyesight, hearing, and reflexes. ITS will provide extended independence and contributing to a better quality of life and longevity. At that age a sense of independence is detrimental in living.

Opportunity to see if laws of other states are effective, provides insight and learning in developing laws that protect the innocent from violaters. The voices of people were affected by drunk driving accidents, should voice their feelings louder, in order for changes to punish those violaters more harshly. "AN EYE FOR AN EYE" Restitution for damages. Why should a person who took the life of another innocent driver on the road, due to drinking and drivingbe able to live their life freely after only serving a few year in jail?

This program has everyone in the neighborhood work together in order to provide a safe enviornment in which they live. The program is designed to control and manage traffic throughout Blacksburg neighborhood by responding to the concerns of its citizens and community groups. There is a 2 phase process. The first being modifying behavior through measures like more signage, education, more enforcement, and punishment. If this approach is ineffective they resort monitor physical devices that monito speeding, improper parking, cutting thorugh traffic, accidents and sight distances( look at the definition of convoys
. Because driving is a group effort, and inorder for it to be effective in a certain area, the cooperation and effort of every single person is required. Sometimes, it doesn't always work out the way you wnat it too, and calls for the reinforcement of punishment to do the job.

This link provides information on the joint effort of Delaware Cooperative Extension, Office of HIghway Safety and Delaware Safe Kids Coalition, which is a state wide educational program aimed at reducing the 3rd leading cause of accidental death to Delaware kids-pedestrian accidents. This class teaches saftey and awareness and behavior modification at a young age. This program provides the ability for a child to judge speed, distance and depth. The program will allow kids to develop and interact safey with motor vehicle traffic This approach to teach young children to be safe pedestrians, will also have a positive and beneficial result in the long run. As future drivers they will be more cautious to pedestrians, and overall be better drivers. If they learn the correct way the first time, it will eleiminate any bad habits of forming.

I thought that this link would be interesting to read, because many people do not realize that over the counter medication can impair and influence a person's driving. We often underestimate the amount of strenght antihistimines and other OTCD can have on us. We need to take a little extra time out in reading the label, or asking you physician. It is always better to be safe than sorry.....So if you are sick, have a headache, or affected by allergies, and have taken medication to relieve the pain and irritation, and have to go somewhere, ask a friend or relative for a ride, I am sure if you give a sad story, out of sympathy they will give you a ride to where you have to go.
