This is the beginning of Week #8 Homework. This is our chance to legitimately look through PSY 409's homework. I noticed that everyone, pretty much had a good attitude towards using the Internet. Our comments and homework will be looked at by Dr.James, so we don't know if everyone's reactions and feelings are "really" true?! Well, truthfully, similar toLinda Wong, I never anticipated that amount of time that was needed to do your homework on the Internet. Usually when I am working on the computer, time goes by so fast. According to the saying"Time lfies when your having fun", I guess I am having fun exploring the internet. But because our grade depends on our work, we have to deal with the frustration of having to make the time to work on the computer. Cheryl Remata also states that frustration is the key to learning. So I guess i am relly learning becuase the amount of frustration I have dealt with, since the semester started is tremendous, I must be getting somewhere.

Kids
Speaking of time, How in the world does Carol Alamares survive, school, work, and kids? In herUnix section, Carol mentions how she doesn't have that much time to do her work. I commend her on successfully being able to juggle a full time job, school-full time, and raising two sons. I felt so ashamed that I was grumbling about not enough time. I believe that Carol is a very srtong and dedicated person, so for those of you like me who feel that htere are not enough hours in a day, take the time out to recognize that there are other people out there who "really" have a busy schedule. Imagine, having to take care of two children too. I have a niece that is three years old, and I am just glad that I can return her to my sister. Babysitting her for the whole day drains me, imagine being a full time parent?! Carol you deserve an award!!!!@@@****

Neighbor
I was reading Grant Harada's fileDumbstruck and I realized that I sometimes do the same thing Grantdoes. That is look over at the next person's screen for a while, to take mymind off of my frustration and mental block, and computer screen glare blindeness. I wanted to say "Thank God Grant and I were not sitting next to each other in the Lab" We would never get anything done. We would both be staring at unappealing screens. I guess supposedly looking at another person's screen suppose to give you that incentive and challenge to do better. It also gives you time to take a break.

Reading Bev Diaz'sIt's Not Over
I thought to myself that loggin on to the Internet and using the WWW is just the beginning. There are no limits to it. If we don't at least learn how to attempt usingit, the longer we wait the further behind we wil be. It is hard enoguh just to get started now. Can you imagine what the Internet will contain in a couple of years? How will we be able to keep up? But one thing that I miss, is having something on paper. It can't be erased, deleted or lost. I realized that although there are pro's and con's to using a computer. On Thursday, I almost lost everything I had worked on for this class with the push of several buttons. I double checked with the lab asst. on how to print something out when I was in Web, just to make sure. He told me to punch in other commands other than what I used before, trusting him, and thinking oh wow, a new way, I screwed up my Home Page. I asked him for help, but he didn't know how. Luckily Kevin Bogan helped me fix everything up. He also told me the advantages of saving everything on disk. Boy, what an experience. I totally freaked out! This experience actually was a good one, besides the fact that I got a couple of white hairs the next day, got a pimple on my cheek, and a stomach ache, I knew that I had to learn more about using computers. I felt that what I knew wasn't enough, feeling hopeless and frustrated when my file got screwed up gave me incentive to learn and practice more.

Part 2 Looking through the Instructor's Weekly Comments I really shared, the feelings ofSmashing the Computer
feeling with Cheryl. I guess its even more frustrating when the computer can't fight back with you. In regards to awards, I think that everyone should get an award, for just surviving the course up untill now. Of course there are those people, who are born with the the ability to use the computer to its fullest extent, and there are those people, who just are not good at it. I think it took every student alot of hard work, effort, and dedication to survive up unitll now, and not drop out. Although the thought had crossed my mind a couple of times, I decided to challenge my weakness, ...Computers.

Helpful Hints
Also reading about everyone's problems logging on inLog On
, I was glad that I din't run into more difficulty, for sure I would of past out and be discouraged to the max!!!! I heard about Claudia' nightmare about her files getting mixed up with someone else's with the same name. My other friend who also tried to change thier www log in name ran into some problems also. He was not able to do any homework during one weekend because he tried to change his login name. He suffered, because a paper he had for classs was due on Monday, and the information he needed was acessible through the Internet. He had to resort going to the Public Library. Therefore, by hearing about the problems other people ran into, I learned that don't get over your head. Sometimes, the less you know how to do something, will keep you out of trouble!!
