Instructions for the
g12generations.html file

_____ 0) This report must have the following main heading:

Mining the Generational Curriculum
xxx
Note: replace xxx with a fitting sub-title of your own choosing!

1) First you need to explore the various Generational reports written by prior students. Go to the Index to All Generations and explore the student home pages.  You'll find that they all did a generations.html file that you can explore. You'll need to spend several sessions exploring--make sure you use your Bookmarks or your Favorites to keep track for later.  Also, have your word processor open so you can take notes as you go along, including copy/pasting addresses for links.  Take notes on the structure of their sections and paragraphs.  Your job is to do what they did, but to improve on it.

Note:  If you come across a dead link (a link you click on and you get an error message instead of the file), please email Dr. James giving the name of the file (use copy-pasting) and the name of the dead link.  Thanks!! This will help us keep the Generational Curriculum up to date.

Use this trick as well: when you get a Not Found Page, click in the address window once, then again until deselected, then backspace and delete the file name unitl the first slash you come upon, then hit return. This will take you to the directory.  Look for the file there, perhaps with a slightly different name.  Now go back especially to students who did  the same chapter or site that you presented.  Now start your word processor and answer these questions--you might need to go back to check some of the student reports you read.

2) One suggestion for improvement is to use more psychology concept to interpret the various observations you make about student's reports and opinions across the generations. Dr. James has several articles on the psychological concepts involved in learning the Internet.  Look for them here.

3) Another suggestion for improvement is to contrast the Generations and how students behave in them. Does it have to do with the topic, the cumulative effect, the developing tradition?

4) Be sure you have a clickable Table of Contents at the top of the file and a clickable Navigation Table at the bottom.  Make sure that the first entry says Instructions for this Report and gives this document as the address which is:

www.soc.hawaii.edu/leonj/leonj/leonpsy12/g12generations.html

5) Make sure all your links work by clicking on them several times.

6) Make sure your <title> field is filled out as follows:  Your First and Last Name, G12, Fall 1999, Course Number, Generations Report.

7) When you post your g12generations.html file you need to fill out the Ratings here.
